Canadian Producers Present Edgy Feature in Wake of Faith-Based Revolution in North America
TORONTO, CANADA (April 10, 2017) - RDG Entertainment Inc. (Reel Deal Guys Entertainment) announces that their first full-length feature Adams Testament is set for its highly anticipated Canadian Premiere on Tuesday, April 18th. The faith-based feature starring leading actor Philip Moran (Total Recall) will screen at 7:00 pm at the Cineplex Cinemas Yonge-Dundas in Toronto. The film will then have monthly theatrical screening events with Cineplex across Canada in Ottawa, Calgary, Vancouver, and Halifax.
Producers of the film, Jason Barbeck and Rafael Kalamat, are passionate about their faith and strive to be ahead of the curve in changing the stigma around the genre of faith-based films through the release of their edgy and unconventional Christian feature film. Adams Testament is a unique balance that pushes traditional boundaries of faith based content, yet still educates youth and young adults about rediscovering their faith.
Rafael and myself didn't initially intend on producing a faith-based film, but the content just came to us so naturally, and were both very excited to be a part of the evolution of this genre, said Jason Barbeck, co-Writer/Director. We feel so blessed to have been given this opportunity and we're very excited to share our work at the Canadian Premiere, said Rafael Kalamat, co-Writer/Director.
The entertainment industry is on its way to rediscovering faith films. Faith-based movies that were once a niche market are now seeing growth to a larger audience, while fresh and alternative spiritual content is starting to appear more in the mainstream market. With the notable launch of Light TV in the United States by Roma Downey, Mark Burnett and MGM, as well as the massive popularity of feature films such as Risen, Miracles From Heaven and War Room, Adams Testament sets the stage for the expanding industry of faith based features in Canada.
Faith-based entertainment has truly come of age with participation from quality filmmakers and talent alike. Reel Deal's Jason Barbeck and Rafael Kalamat are examples of the high-level film creative talent drawn to this ever-growing entertainment category, said Nat Abraham, Partner and President of Distribution at Breakthrough Entertainment.
Executive Produced by Todd Yuill and Elva Yuill and Co-Executive Produced by Philip Moran. Directed, Written and Produced by Rafael Kalamat and Jason Barbeck. The film also stars Luke Bilyk (Degrassi), Zo De Grand Maison (Orphan Black), Nick Mancuso (Under Siege), Kate Drummond (Good Witch), Sean McCann (Chicago), Art Hindle (Invasion Of The Body Snatchers), Jefferson Brown (Red), Frank Chiesurin (Resident Evil) and Ian Matthews (A History of Violence) making up a cast of 30 Canadian actors in this ACTRA /CMPA production.
Adams Testament follows Adam, a young musician had the perfect life until one day everything changed. His father, detective Joseph Gable continues on a relentless path to save Adam's soul as angels and demons are disguised as humans. This ancient spiritual war between good and evil will test their faith as a dark stranger descends on modern day Toronto.
