Toshiba Appoints Executive Officers for Each Region, Establishes Sustainability Management Division

TOKYO Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO: 6502) today announced that it has appointed executive officers for its key regional operations, effective from April 1, 2021, as a move to strengthen overseas business activities and governance at overseas subsidiaries. Toshiba also announced that a Sustainability Management Division will begin work on the same date, a measure to further reinforce group-wide efforts at sustainability management and to reflect sustainability perspectives in all corporate activities.

1. Appointment of executive officers for each region

Toshiba Group operates a wide range of businesses around the world. In order to establish the structure needed to promote group-wide regional strategy alongside global strategy for each business, an executive officer will be appointed to oversee operations in each of four key geographies: the Americas; Europe, the Middle East and Africa; Asia-Pacific; and China and East Asia. The executive officer will be responsible for developing comprehensive strategies and establishing personnel and organizational structures for the region, so as to grow business in overseas markets and ensure good governance of overseas subsidiaries.

2. Establishment of Sustainability Management Division

As efforts toward the achievement of a sustainable society progress globally, stakeholders' expectations and demands for solutions to social issues represented in the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are increasing. Committed to People, Committed to the Future. is the long standing Basic Commitment of the Toshiba Group. As a member of a global society that faces many issues, Toshiba closely considers the long-term impacts of its activities on that society, and aims to resolve some of these issues through its business activities, know-how and technologies. The Sustainability Management Division will promote the reflection of sustainability perspectives in management, and promote ESG management and achievement of the SDGs. The sustainability-related functions of the Corporate Communications Division and the social contributions function of the Human Resources and Administration Division will be transferred to the new organization to accelerate group-wide initiatives.
