90s Comedy There's Something About Mary revealed as best film to watch on a hangover

Cult favourite There's Something About Mary has been voted the best film to stream the morning after the night before' by over 1,600 British film fans.

The Cameron Diaz rom-com attracted 14 per cent of the vote in a poll to find the best movies to watch with a hangover. Carried out by film and TV streaming service, Amazon's LOVEFiLM, the research marks the launch of The Hangover: Part II on the service this week.

Coming in at number two in the list is swinging sixties agent Austin Powers International Man of Mystery. Mike Myers' ruffled collar, blue velvet suit and catchy lines reeled in 13 per cent of the vote, cementing its place as a sofa-day favourite.

Following closely behind in third place is Johnny English Reborn, the adventure starring hapless Rowan Atkinson trying to prevent global chaos by foiling an assassination attempt. The unlikely government agent snared 12 per cent of viewers' votes.

Taffeta-strewn comedy Bridesmaids successfully battled into fourth place in the chart with 11 per cent of the sore-headed public's vote. The double Oscar-nominated hit follows a group of women jostling for the bride's attention in the run up to her big day.

Jousting his way into fifth place is Heath Ledger's character, peasant-turned-knight William Thatcher, in medieval classic A Knight's Tale. The comedic take on Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales proves a gentle enough past-time for nine per cent of worse-for-wear partygoers.

Lindsay Lohan's impressive performance as both twins in Disney's The Parent Trap comes in at sixth place in the list. The story of the sisters meeting at summer camp and deciding to swap lives won over seven per cent of those polled.

In at number seven is another Ben Stiller classic, the David vs. Goliath comedy Dodgeball, which won over six per cent of dehydrated movie enthusiasts. Romping into eighth spot is Friends with Benefits starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis with five per cent of voters feeling the benefits of an injection of romance into their weekend after a night of overindulgence.

Jim Carrey's hilarious depiction of Charlie Baileygates and Hank Evans in Me, Myself & Irene finished in ninth place with four per cent, and taking the coveted tenth spot is The Look of Love. The big screen portrayal of the life of porn magnate Paul Raymond - who became Britain's richest man - charmed three per cent of big-screen buffs, securing it a spot in the list of ultimate hangover antidotes.
