RICH WORKSHOPS AGENDA, NEWLY CREATED IOT WORLD EXHIBIT AREA
HIGHLIGHT INTERNET OF THINGS PRESENCE AT SCTE ISBE CABLE-TEC EXPO
Seven Exhibitors To Showcase Solutions To Help Cable Capitalize On Connected Technologies
OCT. 16, 2018 (Exton, PA)-The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), along with its global arm, the International Society of Broadband Experts (ISBE), will continue its headlong plunge into Internet of Things technologies when it hosts five workshops and a special exhibit area on IoT at SCTE ISBE Cable-Tec Expo 2018 Oct. 22-25 at the Georgia World Congress Center, in Atlanta.
SCTE ISBE, which announced in 2016 the formation of the IoT Working Group within the SCTE ISBE Standards Program, will provide insights into the group's progress as well as implications for the industry in workshops entitled: The State of the IoT in SCTE ISBE Standards; Everything You Always Wanted to Know About the Low Power Wide-Area (LPWA) Networks That Connect IoT Devices; Applying IoT Techniques to Eldercare; The State of Mission-Critical IoT Packets; and Around the World of IoT.
In addition, seven companies that are helping cable capitalize on Internet of Things technologies will exhibit at a newly created IoT World exhibit on the Cable-Tec Expo show floor. The exhibiting companies include:
AirSys, which will be exhibiting a comprehensive suite of IoT hardware and software solutions that are designed to reduce OPEX and CAPEX while enhancing deployment run rate;
Alarm.com, which will be showing a security and remote monitoring platform that enables application-based control for a variety of IoT devices;
ARRIS, which will host an interactive IoT trivia game contest that is intended to showcase secure and innovative solutions ARRIS is bringing to market;
Axiros, which will be displaying end-to-end solutions for IoT provisioning and management that are intended to help operators leverage cable networks to enable revenue-generating IoT verticals;
F-Secure, which offers connected home security solutions that utilize cloud, router-based security and endpoint protection to allow operators to protect consumers' internet-connected devices;
OpenVault, which will show how operators can increase visibility into consumer broadband usage on Wi-Fi connected devices and arm themselves for the complexity of IoT environments;
SerComm, which will show how to prepare and deploy a new generation of pervasive wireless connectivity intended to deliver commercial and industrial IoT services over CBRS.
Adjacent to IoT World, ARRIS' Smart Cities exhibit (Booth 2841) will feature ARRIS and partners Axis, LG-MRI, Signify, and Tektelic showcasing Smart City opportunities for service providers with CBRS and Wi-Fi APs from Ruckus Networks, an ARRIS company, as well as an Internet kiosk, smart lighting, cameras, LoRA, and sensor solutions. The exhibits will focus on Smart City technologies, including an Internet kiosk, IoT sensing solutions, smart street furniture, and wireless cameras systems that use Wi-Fi, telemetry, and sensor technology to relay and receive data from centralized monitoring hubs. The exhibit will show how smart cities can save OPEX, improve dispatch and directional efficiency, improve safety, and raise the quality of life for city dwellers and visitors.
Under the leadership of Program Chair Kevin Hart, Executive Vice President and Chief Product and Technology Officer for Cox Communications, SCTE ISBE Cable-Tec Expo 2018 has attracted a banner list of speakers. Following opening remarks by Hart, the Opening General Session on Tuesday, Oct. 23 will feature a keynote by Pat Esser, president of Cox Communications; visionary insights from Dr. Bernardo Huberman, Fellow and vice president of the Core Innovation Team for CableLabs ; and a landmark panel comprising: Michael Powell, president and CEO of NCTA-The Internet & Television Association; Phil McKinney, president and CEO of CableLabs ; Mark Dzuban, president and CEO of SCTE ISBE; and moderator Tony Werner, president, Technology, Product, Xperience, Comcast Cable.
SCTE ISBE Cable-Tec Expo is renowned as the pre-eminent venue that combines the thought leadership, engineering innovation, and deal-making that power the technological future of broadband telecommunications. As a nexus for content and service providers, technology partners, and industry experts, Expo provides rich insights into technologies, products, and services that can generate revenue, streamline operations, and increase customer satisfaction.
Limited seating may be available for a pair of special sessions that are free to all full conference attendees. They are the Evolving Access Networks: Deployment Strategies and Use Cases, a Thursday, Oct. 25 session created in partnership with ADTRAN, and the Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) pre-conference session on Monday, Oct. 22, which has attracted more than 600 registrants. The Fall Technical Forum at Expo 2018 is setting records for number of technical speakers (104) and workshops (48). In addition, the Cable TV Pioneers will conduct their annual banquet in conjunction with Expo, on Monday, Oct. 22.
