SCTE ISBE LAUNCHES ALUMNI ASSOCIATION FOR ACCLAIMED TUCK PROGRAM
Goal Is To Extend Learning and Networking; Alpha Technologies' John Hewitt To Lead
MARCH 22, 2018 (Exton, PA)-The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) and its global arm, the International Society of Broadband Experts (ISBE), today announced an alumni organization that is intended to enhance the career success of graduates of the SCTE ISBE Leadership Institute at Tuck Executive Education at Dartmouth.
The SCTE ISBE-Tuck Alumni Association will provide continued learning and networking opportunities for participants who have successfully completed the SCTE ISBE-Tuck program and will amplify the positive impact SCTE ISBE-Tuck is having on executives' continuing education and career advancement.
The Alumni Association is open to individuals at all cable telecommunications companies-including service providers and vendors-who satisfactorily completed the SCTE ISBE-Tuck program. Details on eligibility and activities will be forthcoming following this year's program.
John Hewitt, Senior Vice President, Broadband Products Group and North America Sales for Alpha Technologies, has been named the first president of the organization. Hewitt will work with SCTE ISBE to oversee a Board of Directors of SCTE ISBE-Tuck alumni who will lead the shaping and execution of alumni association objectives, including special events at SCTE ISBE Cable-Tec Expo 2018, which is set for Monday through Thursday, Oct. 22-25, in Atlanta.
SCTE ISBE-Tuck is the flagship of our Leadership Institute programs, which have figured prominently in the career successes of more than 600 current and future leaders, said Mark Dzuban, president and CEO of SCTE ISBE and executive advisor of the Alumni Association. We anticipate that the Alumni Association will provide a platform for new learning and networking opportunities that will generate additional value for SCTE ISBE-Tuck graduates and the broadband industry.
While the critical thinking and leadership skills of SCTE ISBE-Tuck unquestionably have had a positive impact on my career, it's been clear to me that the benefits should extend far beyond the coursework, said Hewitt. The vision SCTE ISBE and I share for the Alumni Association is as an organization that brings graduates together, offers next-level learning opportunities, and positions us to derive maximum benefit from the program.
Now in its eighth year, the annual SCTE ISBE-Tuck program attracts elite professionals who include senior directors, vice presidents, senior and executive vice presidents, and C-level executives from across the cable industry.
The immersive curriculum offers opportunities for intensive learning and peer interaction for executives representing service providers, technology partners, industry associations, and other organizations. In 2017, its 62 attendees and 4.9 rating (out of a possible 5.0) tied records set in 2016 for attendees and student satisfaction.
Featured guest speakers for this year's class-set for Sunday through Friday, May 6-11-will be Dave Watson, president and CEO of Comcast Cable and senior executive vice president of Comcast Corporation, and Tom Adams, executive vice president of Charter Communications. Applications for the SCTE ISBE-Tuck program are available for qualified executives in the United States and abroad at http://www.scte.org/tuck.
SCTE ISBE-Tuck helps C-Level executives, vice presidents, and senior directors foster the leadership and critical-thinking skills needed to create and implement successful business and technology strategies. The program leverages the faculty and resources of the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, which is consistently ranked among the world's Top 10 business schools by Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, and U.S. News & World Report.
SCTE ISBE-Tuck is part of the SCTE ISBE Leadership Institute, which has enhanced the careers of more than 600 current and future leaders. A complementary program, the SCTE ISBE Leadership Institute at Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business, is a technically oriented curriculum that is geared toward high-potential, mid-level cable engineering and operations professionals. The 2018 SCTE ISBE-Georgia Tech program was conducted last week, Monday through Thursday, March 12-15; information is available at http://www.scte.org/georgiatech.
