Broadpeak's Xavier Leclerc is to lead the DTG's working group looking at the technical and operational challenges of distributing live and on-demand content at scale, across broadcast and IP.

He will work closely with group members as well as DTG CTO Alex Buchan and strategic technologist Yvonne Thomas to explore and champion UK digital media distribution via broadcast, IP, mobile or hybrid delivery.

Key priorities for the Group in 2025 include:

Re-evaluating CDN strategies - analysing why some content delivery networks have struggled, exploring the evolving challenges, and spotlighting disruptive approaches from new entrants reshaping the market.

Demystifying ultra-low latency streaming - separating hype from reality with a clear-eyed look at implementation challenges and opportunities.

Exploring multicast ABR in practice - sharing use cases where it has delivered measurable benefits, and understanding the conditions that enabled success.

Driving sustainability - examining how energy efficiency and carbon reduction can be achieved across the end-to-end transmission chain.

Redefining distribution models - assessing the commercial and technical viability of alternatives to DTT broadcast and identifying the stakeholders who can drive change.

Applying AI in real-world scenarios - focusing on tangible use cases that enhance delivery performance, streamline operations or improve the viewer experience.

Shaping the future of UK TV distribution - aligning with the work of the DCMS Future of TV Distribution Infrastructure Working Group, chaired by DTG CEO Richard Lindsay-Davies, to ensure industry input and cohesion.

On his new appointment, Leclerc said: It's a privilege to Chair the DTG's Distribution Working Group at a time of significant industry transformation. I look forward to collaborating with stakeholders across the sector to identify opportunities, address challenges, and support the DTG's mission to ensure sustainable, scalable, and future-ready content delivery for the UK.
