On Location with the new F3 Monitor
Oct 102013
Suffice it to say, there is a reason there wasn't an F2. The new F3 Monitor takes the previous iteration, the F1, and enhances the experience in a host of ways.
The F3 never seems more at home than when on location. Aside from a higher resolution 1024 x 600 from 800 x 400 the F3 incorporates a much greater viewing angle as well as stronger vibrance, both of which greatly enhance the usability for either crews or single-operators. On a similar note, the ability to use the new Vertical Image Flip feature comes in handy when attempting to get that hard to reach angle for a shot.
When on location, incorporating a battery slot for Sony NP-F batteries makes powering the F3 remarkably easier. Also, now with a built-in sun shade, protecting your image from the sun as well as your screen while in transit and on location has greatly improved.
We wanted to test out the F3 and see what the new experience was like so we headed out to an abandoned church to get some footage. Here are some shots of the F3 in action.
