October 8, 2014 - Piracy is a real threat for Pay-TV service providers that invest significant budget in acquiring exclusive broadcast rights to offer major local and international sport events on premium TV channels. Increasingly, such content is distributed on OTT and TV-Everywhere services, which enables them to offer high quality content on a variety of devices, from set-top box (STB) to PCs, Macs, tablets, game consoles, or connected TVs.
While this attractive offering allows operators to gain and retain subscribers, making content available on multiple screens increases the chances of illicit live re-streaming of said content.
