Sky News Appoints Anushka Asana as Political Correspondent

Anushka began her journalism career at the Observer where she remained for eight years. Her final role there was as the newspapers Policy Editor, working from Westminster writing about politics and people. While there she covered the 2010 General Election and the formation of the Coalition. Before that she covered a series of roles for the paper including Education Correspondent, Deputy News Editor and Health Reporter - and was also shortlisted for the young journalist of the year category in the British Journalism Awards.

In 2006 Anushka won the Laurence Stern Fellowship, spending a number of months working on the Washington Post where she covered the mid-term elections, travelled on Air Force 1 with the President and interviewed Barack Obama, then a high-flying senator.

Anushka takes up her new role late summer.
