Melbourne, Australia February 5, 2013 Smart Production Tools on Show at BVE 2013, London Atomos, the creator of the award-winning camera mounted recorders Ninja-2 and Samurai, and the pocket-sized Connect converters, will be at BVE Expo, 26-28th February 2013 at the Excel Exhibition Centre, London. BVE is a very important show for us, said Jeromy Young, CEO and Founder of Atomos, simply because the UK is one of our strongest markets. With many of the new DSLRs supporting clean HDMI output, our hottest product right now is the Ninja-2, but well be showing our products working with a wide selection of cameras, so there will something of interest on show for every kind of production, big or small.
The Ninja-2 and Samurai recorders have broken new ground in production by combining recording, monitoring and playback all in one easy to operate, portable device. Both record pristine, uncompressed images straight from the sensor of the DSLR or camcorder directly to inexpensive, removable hard drives, in a ready-to-edit format: Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHD.
Operation is by touchscreen - unique in the camera-mounted recorder category - and because Atomos write their own operating system, users benefit from regular feature updates, at no extra cost.
The latest AtomOS 4 firmware for both Ninja-2 and Samurai incorporates professional monitoring solutions, including focus peaking, zebra, false color and blue-only and the ability to make cut-edits in the field. The Samurai also supports Avid DNxHD proxy - for progressive formats - and allows users to read filename information from RED Epic and RED One cameras.
Visitors to BVE will also have a first chance to see the Ronin portable recorder. Ronin is a rack-mountable solution for both fixed-facility and on-location production, based on the Samurai design. Like the Samurai, it can operate on location with battery or DC power, but it has AC power as standard, full-size BNC connectors and balanced XLR inputs and outputs.
