The University of Houston is back in the Final Four for the first time since 2021, and its Athletics Department's Creative Video team is ensuring that Cougar fans get an all-access look at the team's historic run.
Our team's content philosophy, says Luke Butler, assistant director, creative video, University of Houston Athletics, is to tell a story in a way so that people can get an inside feel of the team from a different view to see relationships and to feel a part of the program, while also trying to boost the program name and brand.
Butler's team has leveled up its coverage in San Antonio by deploying more shooters and covering a wider variety of shots, details, and places to further tell the story. Led by Butler; Director, Creative Video, Taylor Libby; and Assistant Director, Creative Video, Kyle Holman, the Cougars video team is onsite in San Antonio with plans to produce sendoff videos and photos, practice videos and photos, clips of highlights or celebrations after a win, and a Final Four hype video the night before.
Tto capture this content, the Creative Video team is deploying Sony FX6, FX3, A7S3, A1, A74 cameras; Sony 70-200, 16-35, 24-70, 50 lenses; and Atomos Monitors.
Players and coaches have been on board with granting access to me and my team, allowing us to capture a lot of moments in the locker room, on the practice courr, and throughout the city, which has helped immensely, says Butler. Our team has worked to build relationships so this could be possible.
Should Houston advance to the championship game, the plan would be to make content on Sunday showcasing highlights and the process of practice and preparation for the championship game Monday.
Our team has done a tremendous job, says Butler, and we could not be prouder of how we are elevating our program and brand after they have showcased their talents on the court, which allows us to continue to capture the journey and the work that they have put in.
