Wayne, N.J., February 26, 2025 - Vision Research announces the release of its Phantom KT-series, a new family of small, powerful and precise high-speed cameras incorporating 1- and 4.2-megapixel (Mpx) back side illuminated (BSI) sensors. The KT-series includes four models: the 1-Mpx KT-1610 and KT-1210, and the 4.2-Mpx KT-1640 and KT-1240. Available in both monochrome and color, they offer superior image performance in a small and lightweight form-factor, making them ideal for advanced research applications.
The Latest Sensor Technology
The KT-series' state-of-the-art BSI sensor architecture sustains image throughput up to 16 Gpx/s, resulting in maximum possible pixel resolution at the camera's highest frame rates. With Quantum Efficiency (QExFF) between 84-88% and an Absolute Sensitivity Threshold (AST) of 24 e- as measured with EMVA 1288, these sensors have the pixel response necessary for reliable imaging at sub-microsecond exposures or when there is limited available light.
The 1-Mpx KT cameras offer a 190-nanosecond export-controlled Fast-option to further minimize motion blur for ballistics and precise high-velocity measurements. KT-1640 and KT-1240 feature 4.2 Mpx resolution for improved edge rendition and wider tracking capability in motion analysis applications. These features ensure even the smallest details are captured, enhancing the reliability of collected data for R&D teams across academia and industry.
Key applications for the KT-series include advanced industrial testing, ballistics and range, biomedical applications, 3D object tracking, particle image velocimetry (PIV), digital image correlation (DIC) and high-speed microscopy.
Features to Improve Productivity
KT-series cameras are small and lightweight (3.2 kg), promoting ease of use and portability by reducing setup complexity, improving multi-camera positioning and offering greater onsite versatility. They also support CF-Express Type B, SDI and HDMI video outputs and include a new wheel-style control interface for an untethered camera workflow. Access to three programmable I/O enables fine control of signals for precision synchronization and triggering.
