Umpqua Bank chose the VMware NSX platform for its unique micro-segmentation capabilities -- namely distributed firewalling and routing policy management -- which enables baked-in security across its infrastructure. Umpqua Banks IT team successfully deployed VMware NSX into production on the companys existing physical infrastructure only 45 days after initially learning about VMware NSX.

With the VMware NSX platform, the banks IT team deployed security controls inside the data center network for a fraction of the cost that would have been required using a hardware-centric approach. The combination of performance and automation delivered by VMware NSX has allowed Umpqua to cost-effectively operationalize micro-segmentation. Implementation has been rapid, and the team has gone from VMware NSX initial discussions to full production in less than two months. Adoption of network virtualization has made remote provisioning, management, orchestration and control of the banks infrastructure possible.
