Cignal Digital TV, the country's premier satellite pay TV provider, is setting its eyes on intensifying its efforts to maintain the top spot in terms of digital satellite television technology in the Philippines.
During the inauguration of its latest facility the Earth Station in Porac, Pampanga SMART Communications and PLDT Chairman and Cignal founder Manny V. Pangilinan expressed that the main priority of the company is to be able to provide millions of Filipinos with the best quality TV viewing experience.
The launch of this top-of-the line facility serves to empower the brand to deliver a more streamlined output through a massive hub that aggregates all content from all channels, said Pangilinan. Aside from this, the Earth Station will also serve as the main base of the entire satellite operations of Cignal.
From its humble beginnings in 2009, Cignal now offers wireless solution to the entire archipelago, transmitting more than 85 channels nationwide with a complete mix of the most popular channels, including sports, movies, entertainment, news & information, kid's channels and more.
It was necessary for us to invest on a bigger facility, MediaScape, Inc. COO & Managing Director Annie Naval shared. With a tremendous growth in subscriber base that came after pioneering HD TV transmission in 2010, a new and upgraded facility featuring state-of-the-art technology and a 13-meter transmit antenna just seemed like the next best step for the country's premier satellite pay TV provider.
From the reception to the transmission, down to what people see on their screens, everything is 100% digital and has high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI), shared Atty. Ray C. Espinosa, President and CEO of MediaQuest, Inc., adding that Cignal remains to be the only digital pay TV provider in the country to offer a high quality TV viewing experience that is 100% digital, 100% clear.
Cignal uses Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) technology, the European standard in the direct-to-home pay TV provider industry. Through its satellite facility, Cignal guarantees that its service can do away with cable infrastructure, thus enabling it to reach even the remotest areas and provinces nationwide.
The equipment upgrade, as well the inauguration of Earth Station, only serves as an important milestone for Cignal, Naval noted. This further highlights the fact that the growing market can only expect bigger and greater things from the country's premier provider of pay TV in the immediate future
