Renderboxes, a UK-based manufacturer of high-end workstations with a reputation for extreme performance and reliability among the creative community, has launched the Photon transportable workstation. Designed to withstand the rigours of life on the road without compromising performance, the Photon fits into a standard 1607 Peli Case. Mirroring the extreme speed of its larger workstations, Renderboxes' philosophy of engineering-in speed and reliability means that High-End PC (HEPC) performance is now available to take with you. Ideal for DIT, editing, colour grading and compositing, Photon is also an extremely capable 3D workstation. The workstation is highly configurable, with prices starting at £4,095 ex VAT.

Perfect for freelance content professionals Freelancers often rely on laptops for work away from home, but even the best examples don't come close to Photon's capabilities. Equipped as standard to be compatible with the upcoming NVIDIA RTX 5090 GPU and all current NVIDIA Ada-powered models, it comes with processor power up to the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X 16 Core, up to 96GB fast DDR5 memory and dual NVMe Gen 5 storage. Photon can run at full throttle for days and even weeks. There is no other way to get this kind of performance from a computer you can take with you.

High-end engineering for high-end performance Photon uses the same engineering as Renderboxes' larger models: rigorously tested for compatibility, built from aircraft-grade materials and with ample power supplies and cooling. There's no need for overclocking because these workstations are more than fast enough. That means critical components run comfortably within their specified ranges, so they run cooler for longer.

A transportable workstation you can live and work with Freelancers and mobile media professionals typically sit close to their computers, making noise a critical factor. No one wants to sit next to a jet engine all day, so Photon is designed to run cool, and quiet. Large-diameter fans move air easily and silently.

Perfectly matched with iodyne Pro Data storage Photon is fully certified and tested for compatibility with iodyne Pro Data the world's fastest Thunderbolt storage made for every stage of production. Pro Data is available with up to 48TB of NVMe storage and is protected by hardware RAID 6 and encryption. With sustained 5.2GB/s read and 2.4GB/s write speeds and a total of eight Thunderbolt ports, it is not only fast but also incredibly versatile. Pro Data's multi-OS capability expands possibilities for creatives who like to start their process on a Mac and move to a HEPC like Photon for distributed workflows.
