Event will feature experts involved in the filming, telecasting, broadcasting of 2014 FIFA World Cup in the highest clarity to beyond TV screens
SINGAPORE, 4 June 2014 - As excitement across the globe reaches fever pitch with the 2014 FIFA World Cup just around the corner, BroadcastAsia2014 will provide a timely, behind-the-scenes look at the technology powering the world's most-watched sporting event.
Returning to Marina Bay Sands Singapore from 17 - 20 June, BroadcastAsia2014 will host key industry players such as EVS and others who will showcase the cutting-edge technology that play integral roles to bring the 64 matches from 12 stadiums to more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.
Rapid strides in digital entertainment technology have transformed the way content, including sports content, is created, delivered and consumed. Consumers are demanding high definition, on-the-go content, coupled with interactive and personalised viewing experiences on multiple platforms. BroadcastAsia2014 highlights the game-changing technologies in 4K/UHD, second screen and OTT that will come together at this year's biggest sporting event to deliver live content in ultra HD resolution onto multiple mobile platforms, said Mr. Calvin Koh, Assistant Project Director of BroadcastAsia from show organiser, Singapore Exhibition Services.
Enhanced Viewing Experience
At a media briefing today, EVS, the leading provider of live video production systems, showcased their live multi-format production tools, central media exchange and multimedia distribution platforms that will be the enabling technologies for the 2014 FIFA World Cup host broadcaster HBS. EVS' advanced technologies will enable HBS to make live action instantly available for production and distribution as well as deliver expanded and enhanced content across all multimedia platforms.
As our world gets increasingly mobile and connected, audiences demand more real-time content on their mobile devices. Broadcasters have the opportunity to use OTT as an enabling technology to reach a higher level of play through a more intimate connection with viewers. We are proud to play a role in bringing the world's most watched sporting event to multiple platforms for sports fans across the world, said Mr. Joop Janssen, CEO, EVS.
EVS has picked BroadcastAsia2014 to launch for the first time in Asia, its C-Cast Xplore which is created to transform sports production productivity. Part of the EVS C-Cast connected content platform, C-Cast Xplore is a simple web application which gives authorised users remote access to EVS's XT3 live production servers. Studios, archivists and editors can tap directly into the server network in the outside broadcast unit for instant access to any camera, and transfer footage to any location.
Catch 4K Sporting Action at BroadcastAsia2014
Visitors to BroadcastAsia2014 can experience the excitement of top notch football action with the depth and vividness of ultra-high definition on an 84 screen. Sony, an official FIFA partner, will showcase cutting-edge 4K live production solutions, from shooting and production to viewing, that will enable a unique and compelling sporting experience, and truly convey the excitement of football matches across the world in immersive 4K quality.
We're pleased to be participating in a big way in the 19th edition of BroadcastAsia, having witnessed it grow from strength to strength over the past few years. We're seeing an accelerating interest in 4K technology this year, and a continuing move towards over-the-top (OTT) services. Several OTT providers like Netflix and Hulu have been quick to adopt 4K technology, and together with premium content they'll be able to attract subscribers and advertisers. OTT services are really opening things up, so broadcasters are also looking at ways to stand out. 4K is one way to do this, and we hope to demonstrate that at this year's show, said Chris Grey, General Manager, Broadcast & Content Creation Solutions, Sony Professional Asia Pacific.
Sony will be hosting six presentations every day from 17 to 19 June at the Sony booth, led by renowned cinematographers Alister Chapman and Den Lennie.
Leading international exhibitors such as Blackmagic Design, Canon, Grass Valley, GoPro, Orad, Panasonic, RED Digital Cinema, Village Island, and many more will also be showcasing their cutting edge 4K / UHD technologies, products and solutions. Panasonic will showcase the world's first digital single lens mirrorless camera with 4K video recording capability.
Beyond 4K
Taking production to the next level, RED Digital Cinema will feature its SCARLET-X DRAGON that gives shooters the ability to capture motion video and still images at up to 30 frames per second in 5K or up to 1-12 frames per second in 6K.
International Participation at BroadcastAsia2014
The one-of-its-kind trade event continues to attract a healthy mix of exhibitors from more than 42 countries and regions, showcasing technologies ranging from content creation and security to post production software and distribution. Global stalwarts back at the event include Avid, Ericsson, Evertz, Playbox, RCS, Ross Video, Thomson Video Networks, Wohler and many more. ARRIS, Akamai, Brightcove, DJI, NEC and Prime Focus are some of the first-time exhibitors.
ProfessionalAudioTechnology2014 returns with a complete update across the broadcast and film industries, from audio products, audio editing and production to audio post and mastering and music and sound libraries.
