Broadcast RF are heavily involved in Channel 4's exclusive coverage of horseracing events, supplying all of the RF facilities for around 90 days of coverage each year.
After faultless coverage of The Grand National and The Derby, there were high hopes for Royal Ascot, the next Crown Jewel' event of the yearly calendar. The Broadcast RF crew were on site to ensure the smooth running of fifteen wireless camera systems, which included seven roving cameras, one tracking vehicle, one starts jib, two stalls cameras, one Camcat, a super slo mo camera & a return video monitor. An RF rebroadcast system was also deployed for selected wireless cameras to work in the stables area both for Morning Line and the main afternoon transmission.
The high profile status of the event saw all Broadcast RF engineers in suits and all cameramen wearing morning dress, and with the Queen in attendance to watch her highly-tipped horse Estimate run in the Gold Cup, the outfits and accessories were as glamorous as ever.
British History was made when Estimate ran to victory in the Gold Cup, marking the first ever reigning monarch to win the race since its establishment over 200 years ago. The Queen was due to present the trophy to the winner of the race, but as a consequence of Estimate's historic win this role was filled in by her son, the Duke of York, who presented her with the cup.
Broadcast RF have been present to cover all of Channel 4's 2013 race meetings including the Crown Jewel events in excellent fashion and we will be continuing for the remaining 2013 season to the same high quality standard.
