Last week was a hugely important week. Underpinned by technology, live news broadcasts of March 17 23 showed us how crucial live content delivery really is in terms of delivering accessibility and increasing participation in the global community.
Giving people the opportunity to access pivotal discussions through live feeds to any device, any where in the world, is vital. While heads of state, intergovernmental and governmental organisations discuss the borders, cultural roots and destiny of entire nations and make decisions that have massive social, cultural, political and economic ramifications live streaming technology ensures that individuals can observe developments as they happen: an increasingly important part of international relations in our hyperconnected global community.
Our delivering live content surrounding the referendum that saw the annexation of Crimea to Russia is a clear example of the importance of live stream broadcasting. With developments happening minute by minute and political leaders taking to the stage to address their own nations and the international community people need to access to as much information as they can, and must be able to follow conversations as they occur. Similarly important in terms of being nationally and internationally significant, live feeds of the Croatia v. Serbia trial at the International Court of Justice continued last week. Following discussions that will see justice finally being done, viewers watched as the court heard statements from Croatia against Serbia. This is life changing stuff and we're happy to be involved in preventing people from being kept in the dark.
Keeping the spotlight on areas of instability and conflict such as Afghanistan, Libya and Liberia, and driving forward discussions surrounding peacebuilding or indeed Down's Syndrome as we saw last week, ensures that they are not forgotten. Live feeds delivered direct to audiences serves to reassure the global community that issues aren't being forgotten in the wake of other breaking news. An extremely worthwhile part of what we do, live streaming demonstrates to everyone from individual citizens to top political leaders that they are part of the ongoing discussion at the United Nations, Council of Europe and Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization for example.
March 17 21 presented many opportunities to show the way in which live streaming plays a vital role in giving people access to the global community and news agenda. With the uptake of live streaming continuing to grow at pace, we're expecting a similarly full week this week: keep an eye on our website to see what new events we're covering, and how to book streams to anywhere and to any device.
