
Hispasat and Eurona join efforts to universalize the access to broadband in rural areasAmbas compa as han acordado comercializar la capacidad en banda Ka de los sat lites Hispasat 36W-1 e Hispasat 30W-6 para reducir la brecha digital en zonas mal atendidas por las redes de telecomunicaci n terrestres.
Aunque Espa a en l der en despliegue de fibra ptica en Europa, a d a de hoy m s de 2.600 pueblos no disponen de acceso a Internet a un m nimo de 10 Mbps y casi 600.000 hogares no pueden navegar ni a 2 Mbps. Este hecho genera una desigualdad digital que influye negativamente en el desarrollo social y econ mico.
Ahora, el operador satelital HISPASAT and Eurona, proveedor de servicios de e Internet, voz, datos y televisi n satelital, han unido sus fuerzas para reducir este brecha digital y garantizar el acceso a servicios basados en banda ancha.
Los consejeros delegados de ambas compa as, Carlos Espin s y Fernando Ojeda, han anunciado este jueves un acuerdo para la comercializaci n de la capacidad en banda Ka de los sat lites Hispasat 36W-1 e Hispasat 30W-6, que ser lanzado al espacio este mismo mes desde Cabo Ca averal a bordo de un veh culo lanzador Falcon 9 de SpaceX. Ambos sat lites cuentan con haces en banda Ka sobre Espa a, Europa y el norte de frica.
En virtud de este acuerdo, Eurona se convierte en el operador con mayor capacidad satelital en Europa, lo que ser clave para democratizar el acceso a Internet. Y es que, a pesar de que Espa a lidera el despliegue de fibra ptica en Europa y la cobertura de banda ancha est muy extendida, sigue habiendo poblaciones, principalmente en zonas rurales, despobladas o de dif cil orograf a, que carecen de acceso a Internet o lo tienen a muy baja velocidad. El acuerdo firmado por Hispasat y Eurona tiene como objetivo ofrecer a las personas que viven en estas zonas una soluci n tecnol gica v a sat lite, homologable en calidad y precio a otras tecnolog as terrestres.
La banda Ka, clave para la conectividad por sat liteGracias al uso de la banda Ka, que dispone de mayor capacidad, y a la posibilidad de reutilizar frecuencias, los sat lites H36W-1 y H30W-6 cuentan con unas coberturas m s potentes sobre reas m s reducidas, lo que mejora la eficiencia de las transmisiones satelitales y permite alcanzar velocidades de hasta 30 Mbps en condiciones similares a las de otras tecnolog as.
Todo ello supone un incremento directo de la informaci n que puede transmitirse, con velocidades m s elevadas y consiguiendo tarifas m s competitivas para los clientes finales , explic Carlos Espin s, CEO de Hispasat. De este modo Hispasat y Eurona podr n llevar un acceso a Internet de calidad a m s de 30.000 hogares en cualquier lugar de Espa a y a las zonas con m s demanda del territorio marroqu .
Esta mejora en las prestaciones, unida a la cobertura universal que aporta el sat lite en cualquier punto que quede bajo su huella, independientemente de las distancias o las dificultades del terreno; y al r pido despliegue del servicio, ya que basta una antena para poder conectarse de forma inmediata, hacen del sat lite la soluci n id nea para aquellas zonas mal atendidas por las redes terrestres , concluy Espin s.
Este acuerdo se materializar en el lanzamiento por parte de Eurona de una oferta de servicios de banda ancha por sat lite de 30 Mbps en toda Espa a por un precio desde 39,90 euros al mes que puede incluir telefon a fija y m vil. Y, adem s, viene a culminar los recientemente sellados por el operador tecnol gico con Hughes and FENITEL, la federaci n de instaladores, para acelerar la implantaci n de la banda ancha por sat lite en zonas en brecha digital.
Seg n el CEO de Eurona, Fernando Ojeda, Eurona e Hispasat han consolidado una alianza estrat gica de largo recorrido que, adem s, permite a Eurona impulsar su crecimiento, posicion ndose como l der de capacidad satelital en Europa, pues gracias a ella ambos operan una capacidad de m s de 2,2GHz en banda Ka en Espa a y Marruecos. Con este acuerdo queremos cambiar las reglas del juego democratizando el acceso a Internet y garantizando el derecho de las personas a estar conectadas est n donde est n y donde otros no llegan. En Eurona nos medimos en t rminos de miles de vidas conectadas y no tanto en millones de usuarios. Como cotizada pensamos en la rentabilidad econ mica, pero tambi n en el bienestar social .
Ayudas para el usuario finalEl acuerdo alcanzado por Hispasat y Eurona coincide con el reciente anuncio realizado por la Secretar a de Estado para la Sociedad de la Informaci n y Agenda Digital de la puesta en marcha del Programa de Ayudas para la contrataci n de Banda Ancha fija a 30 Mbps.
Gracias a ello, las personas o entidades de poblaciones con menos de 5.000 habitantes que no dispongan de servicios de banda ancha fija con una velocidad de bajada de m s de 10 megabits por segundo podr n sufragar hasta 400 euros de los gastos derivados del alta en el servicio de banda ancha fija a una velocidad m nima de 30 Mbps, como la adquisici n del equipamiento, su instalaci n y puesta en funcionamiento. Eurona ha sido el primer operador homologado para acceder a este Plan de Subvenciones de banda ancha.
Con el fin de fomentar el acceso a Internet de banda ancha por sat lite para todos los ciudadanos, Hispasat y Eurona van a lanzar la campa a informativa Con ctate por Sat lite. Por medio de charlas y ruedas de prensa en las regiones con una mayor demanda de este tipo de soluci n de conectividad, adem s de la p gina web www.conectateporsatelite.es, ambas compa as buscan dar una mayor visibilidad a la tecnolog a satelital y facilitar al m ximo al usuario final la tramitaci n de estas ayudas estatales.
