Sonnet to Sponsor Ballet BCs Debut Performance at the Irvine Barclay Theater

IRVINE, CA-Oct. 4, 2012-Sonnet Technologies today announced that it is sponsoring the May 11, 2013, performance of Ballet BC at the Irvine Barclay Theatre, one of the West Coast's most prestigious and innovative presenters of contemporary dance. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, the Ballet BC company is performing at the Irvine Barclay Theatre as part of its U.S. debut tour.

Featured as part of the Irvine Barclay Theatre's contemporary dance series, Ballet BC is making headlines for its bold new style and innovative repertoire. The dance company is under the leadership of Emily Molnar, former dancer with the National Ballet of Canada and William Forsythe's Ballet Frankfurt. Ballet BC's 16 dancers boast exceptional classical and contemporary training and practically leap off the stage with striking individuality and passionate commitment. At the theater, Ballet BC will make its Southern California debut with a program encompassing two of Europe's most gifted choreographers: France's Mehdi Walerski (Petite C remonie) and Italy's Jacopo Godan (A.U.R.A. - Anarchist Unit Related to Art).

Since opening its doors more than 20 years ago, the Irvine Barclay Theatre has emerged as one of Californias most imaginative performing arts venues. A unique collaborative venture among the City of Irvine, UC Irvine, and the private sector, the theater has developed a reputation for wide-ranging international programming in the fields of contemporary dance, music, and theater arts. Performances take place in the 756-seat Cheng Hall, renowned for its intimate atmosphere, excellent sightlines, and superb acoustics. As a nonprofit arts organization, the Irvine Barclay Theatre and its diverse presentations and community services are made possible by contributions from individuals and corporate sponsorships from companies such as Sonnet.
