Opening this weekend: A woman diagnosed with a rare illness that causes flowers to grow in her lungs, an evangelist framed for murder by a senator, and a PHD student finds love through the eyes of an elusive woman.

Wish I Was Here: Zach Braffs long awaited and crowdfunded film Wish I Was Here tells the story of Aidan Bloom- a 35 year old struggling actor and father who finds himself at a crossroads when everything seems to fall apart. In an attempt to educate his kids via home schooling, Aidan learns more about himself along the way and finds himself in an entirely new and adventure-filled world for him to discover.

The Persecuted: What happens when the church and state come together in a free nation? The Persecuted depicts this world through John Luther (James Remar), an evangelist who finds himself framed for murder by a senator who has plans for sweeping religious reform. John goes from nationally acclaimed evangelist to fugitive, and does not stop fighting until he can uncover the truth about the senator who could potentially change the American Christian community forever.

I Origins: Mike Cahill and Brit Marlings second collaboration (Another Earth) tells the story of Ian (Michael Pitt), a PHD student studying the evolution of the eye. Ians studies start to bleed into his personal life, and leads him to the elusive and exotic Sophi (Astrid B rges-Frisbey) who soon slips out of his hold. Cahills film offers us complex and eye-opening (pun definitely intended) romance that urges us to rethink how we percieve the proximity of science and spirituality.

Mood Indigo: From the mind that brought us Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Michel Gondrys new film Mood Indigo will fill our imaginations with carnations and other pretty things. The film tells the story of Colin (Romain Duris) a wealthy inventor determined to find a cure for his lover Chloes (Audrey Tautou) rare illness that makes her grow flowers in her lungs. Like most Gondry films do, Mood Indigo will surely stretch, bend, and send vibrations through our minds with its quirky and enticing visuals.

Alive Inside: This trailer alone will bring you to happy tears. Michael Rossato-Bennetts uplifiting documentary Alive Inside sheds light on the American healthcare system that neglects other forms of therapy for elderly patients who suffer from memory loss. Rossato-Bennett turns to music as the key to reactivate memories and experiences lost during old age. This documentary has already recieved stellar reviews since its premiere at Sundance in January where it won the Audience Award, and will definitely reshape the way we think about the human mind.
