At IBC 2013 Snell anunciar la expansi n de su soluciones ICE Channel-in-a-Box, con dos nuevos modelos. El producto b sico ICE ahora ofrece a n m s funcionalidad y potencia en un tama o m s compacto. Los nuevos sistemas incluyen ICE-LE, una versi n de bajo costo de 1U que ofrece una funci n racional pensando en operaciones m s peque as o simples proyectos de actualizaci n de servidor de v deo, y ICE SAN, que proporciona almacenamiento de contenido compartido en gran escala para proporcionar acceso instant neo a media desde varias unidades ICE .
Karl Mehring, gerente de producto senior de Snell, destaca que los broadcasters est n bajo presi n como nunca antes para ofrecer m s canales con menos recursos. Al incluir toda la cadena de emisi n en un canal nico y rentable en una caja, ICE ofrece una soluci n ideal para las operaciones de los medios de comunicaci n de todos los tama os. Y ahora, con la opci n de dos sistemas m s vers tiles ICE e ICE SAN, estamos ofreciendo a nuestros clientes una gama m s amplia de opciones para el despliegue de capacidades de canal-in-a-box que son totalmente aptos para este fin. Con una mayor densidad de canales, m s funcionalidad y m s potencia en una caja m s peque a, ICE se dirige directamente a la creciente necesidad de nuestros clientes para transmitir los canales m s complejos, al mismo tiempo que se consigue ahorro de espacio y reducci n al m nimo el consumo de energ a .
Cada unidad ICE cuenta con m ltiples entradas y salidas con dos DVEs y ocho por keyers por canal de mezcla, as como funciones de enrutamiento y mezcla, conversi n de formatos SD y HD, capacidades de procesamiento de audio, y soporte para subt tulo y closed-caption.
El sistema est ndar de ICE ahora ofrece el doble de capacidades gr ficas en 2D o 3D, como antes, por el mismo precio que la configuraci n anterior. Tambi n, a trav s de la nueva versi n 4.0 del software, ICE ofrece ahora nuevas y potentes caracter sticas como la capacidad de seguimiento de audiencias de Nielsen, control de loudness integrado para el cumplimiento de las normas internacionales, y Variplay, una opci n que permite a los operadores acelerar el material no cr tico para comprimir el tiempo y hacer espacio para aquel playout que sea m s esencial.
Ocupando una sola unidad de rack, ICE-LE ofrece un enrutamiento robusto de se ales, mezcla, procesamiento de audio, herramientas de conversi n de formato y 2 TB de almacenamiento. La versi n 2U tiene todas las funciones del ICE, incluyendo gr ficos avanzados, decodificaci n/codificaci n Dolby E, control de loudness, e integraci n con Nielsen y Variplay. Adem s, el ICE 2U ofrece entradas y salidas y 3,6 TB de almacenamiento adicionales.
Por su lado, en colaboraci n con Quantum, Snell ha desarrollado ICE SAN para atender las necesidades de almacenamiento de media en las operaciones de playout actuales. ICE SAN utiliza el poder de una red de rea de almacenamiento (SAN) para centralizar el almacenamiento y simplificar los flujos de trabajo de media para operaciones de m ltiples canales. El resultado es una operaci n menos compleja y costosa que est garantizada para entregar los medios de comunicaci n cuando y donde se necesita. ICE SAN est disponible en dos versiones: un modelo enterprise que ofrece niveles superiores en centralizaci n y capacidad de recuperaci n de almacenamiento, y una opci n de bajo coste que ofrece un alto rendimiento para las operaciones m s peque as en las que el coste es un factor importante.
