Berklee Honors Legendary Guitarist and Professor Mick Goodrick with Signature Series Concert The concert will feature acclaimed faculty and alumni performing in tribute to Goodrick and his lasting impact on the college.

Berklee will celebrate the legacy of Mick Goodrick in a Signature Series concert on March 10.

Berklee will present a Signature Series concert honoring professor and jazz guitarist Mick Goodrick on Thursday, March 10, at 8:00 p.m. at the Berklee Performance Center. The Mick Goodrick Legacy Concert will feature live performances by his former students, including visiting artists Julian Lage '09 and Wolfgang Muthspiel '90, and guitar faculty Tim Miller, Randy Roos, Abby Aronson, and Norm Zocher. The concert will also feature video tributes by Gary Burton '62, Pat Metheny, Bill Frisell '77, John Scofield '73, Mike Stern '75, Leni Stern '80, Wayne Krantz and David Fiuczynski.

In his decades of teaching and performing as a member of the Berklee faculty, Goodrick shaped guitar pedagogy at Berklee and throughout the world. His former students have gone on to become leaders in guitar performance and education in their own right, developing unique voices on the instrument. In this concert, Berklee will celebrate Goodricks legacy, which has given thousands of guitarists the tools and perspective to understand their instrument and find their own voice.

Early in my time as chair, Mick knocked on my classroom door and asked me to step in the hallway with him, said Kim Perlak, chair of the Guitar Department. Heading to his office, he was reminiscing about giving final exams there in 1967. He remembered our chair emeritus sitting on the floor, practicing in anticipation. As he told the story, we both waved to our former chair who was teaching in that same room, more than four decades later. Mick Goodrick has shaped the way thousands of guitarists have thought about our instrument for more than 50 years. His deep, thoughtful approach to the fretboard, the expectation he set to command it, and his endless curiosity and creativity as a musician has inspired generations of players to find their own voices. His legacy lives in the groundbreaking curriculum he authored for our Berklee Guitar Department, and it is my honor as our current chair to inspire and challenge students in the spirit he brought to us.

The Berklee Performance Center is located at 136 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston. Admission is $10/$15 in advance, $15/$20 on the day of the show, and $10 with a Berklee ID. Tickets are available online and at the Berklee Performance Center box office. This is a seated event.

Berklee Live Event Attendance Policy Any member of the public attending a live, ticketed event at Berklee will be required to provide the following:

Proof of vaccination

All ticket holders ages 12 and up are required to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination to attend in-person performances. Effective January 15, 2022, due to the City of Boston's recent vaccine requirements for indoor spaces, negative COVID-19 test results are no longer accepted. Please arrive to the hall with verification of vaccination in the form of:

a CDC vaccination card;

a digital image of your CDC card;

an image of any official immunization record; or

a City of Boston app or any other COVID-19 vaccine verification app.

Masks will be required indoors, regardless of vaccination or negative test status. You must bring your own mask and wear it over your nose and mouth; N95, KN95, KF94, 3-ply surgical mask, or a surgical mask doubled with a cloth mask are preferred to keep patrons safe.
