NetApp Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Technology Officer Appointments Accelerate Innovation Jonathan Kissane Joins as Chief Strategy Officer and SVP, and NetApp Veteran Jay Kidd Is Named Chief Technology Officer and SVP to Position NetApp for Its Next Stage of Growth

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 11, 2012 - NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) today announced that Jonathan Kissane has joined NetApp as chief strategy officer and senior vice president, and NetApp veteran, Jay Kidd has been appointed chief technology officer and senior vice president. Kissane and Kidd will play critical roles in defining and operationalizing the NetApp business and technology vision as the company capitalizes on current technology and business trends and positions itself for its next phase of growth.

The passion and vision of both of these senior leaders will play an important role in leading NetApp into the future, said Tom Georgens, president and CEO, NetApp. Jon and Jay possess exceptional talent and foresight, and together they'll not only help determine how NetApp addresses the needs of today, but how we set the IT agenda of tomorrow.

In his role as chief strategy officer and SVP, Kissane will lead all NetApp corporate development initiatives, including oversight of acquisitions and equity investments, the identification and evaluation of opportunities for technology collaboration, and targeted strategic relationships. He will report directly to Tom Georgens, president and CEO. Kissane joins NetApp from CA Technologies where as SVP, Corporate Development, he identified opportunities to improve the company's competitive position and portfolio of IT management solutions. Kissane holds an MBA from INSEAD and a JD from Harvard Law School. His dual undergraduate degrees are in history and engineering from Stanford.

In his role as chief technology officer and SVP, Kidd will shape NetApp's technology vision as the storage and data management industry is transformed by the impact of virtualization, flash, big data, and the cloud. Kidd will report to Manish Goel, executive vice president, Product Operations. Prior to his appointment as CTO, Kidd led product strategy and development for NetApp's data management and management products. He was integral to the leadership team for Data ONTAP , the world's number one storage operating system, and the storage clustering capabilities that are the linchpin of an agile data infrastructure. Before joining NetApp, Kidd was chief technology officer and vice president of product management at Brocade. He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and computer science from Princeton.
