GoPro Aletes Face Off in the Final Summit Challenge

The third and final day of the 2016 GoPro Athlete Summit on the Gold Coast of Australia has come and gone. And to go out in style, GoPro constructed a challenge so hard, so amazing, and so, well, challenging nobody but decorated championship athletes at the peak of their career could finish.

Just kidding - it was really all about throwing caution to the wind and having some laughs (at each other's expenses) while competing especially because each team leader was a GoPro employee.

The two-hour competition commenced place at the Athlete Summit's home base of the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort with a raft building challenge (more to come on this raft later) and led 16 teams through a series of nine events.

The first of the 15-minute events challenged teams expected to craft a raft sturdy enough to float a whole team. With ropes and PVC piping askew, the blast of an air horn signaled the end of this leg, much to the demise of many teams who were pulled away from a half-built raft, which is a far cry different than the one team who secured a cabana to its deck to float climber Xiao Ting in style.

The following eight rounds took place around Sanctuary Cove in flurry of content-gathering, competitive chaos with the following events:

Drowning Roos - Teams SUP across the pool and back with as many of the adorable joeys as they can float, without letting the other team pillage.

Archery Tag - Teams challenged their inner Hunger Games in an event that had archery meet dodgeball.

Slip n' Slide - The two part series combined stylish sliding with body board balance in slippery slope to gain points.

Giant Games - For this noggin-scratcher, the bigger the brain the easier the puzzle was to complete.

Electric Skateboard Races - A relay race-style event mixed straight up old school drifting mixed with new school electric slide.

Bubble Soccer - The teams tried to burst each others bubble as they raced to net as many goals as possible.

Jetboard Basketball - Two team members jet boarded sky high while the remaing teammate helps alley-oop the team to victory.

Raft race - Told you those rafts weren't going away. The ninth and final leg took teams back to the hotel and pitted the handmade rafts against one another in a race across the Sanctuary Cove.

The winning team was led by skier Gus Kenworthy in a footrace to the finish line. Epic ending, indeed.
