GoPro Europe Adds Free Runner Jason Paul to its Athlete Roster

Jason Paul makes everything look like a jungle gym. His exuberant personality, limber strength and daredevil nature combine to make one enthusiastic free running athlete. Free Runners thrive off of creativity, self-expression and testing their limits, which makes these athletes see roads, bridges and cities differently. There are no barriers - only beginnings - when Paul decides to conquer a course and thankfully he decides to bring a GoPro with him to capture his sights! We are thrilled to have Jason Paul join our 2015 European athlete roster, and we can't wait to see what GoPro tricks he has up his sleeve. Our team had the opportunity to catch up with Paul and ask him some questions on how he uses GoPro to capture his sport.

GoPro: What was your first exposure to the GoPro camera? Has it changed the way you capture Freerunning?

Jason: The first thing I saw was a Snowboarding clip being posted onto a Freerunning-Forum and to be honest I called bullshit, I just couldnt believe that a camera this small could do that. Turns out I was proven wrong and it definitely has changed the way I capture and look at Freerunning.

GoPro: How many cameras do you like to use when performing a trick and where do you place them?

Jason: I like travelling light, so most of the time Ill just pack the HERO4 Silver and do a jump a few times to get all the angles. I really like the first-person-perspective, just to give people the feeling of what it feels like to stand on the ledge of a roof gap. After that I feel like a low angle shot shows off Freerunning the best and it can help making the jump look as big as it feels when you're doing it!

GoPro: What is the best place to train while Freerunning, do you ever incorporate the GoPro App into your training?

Jason: We spend most of our time practicing low to the ground, repeating tricks until they became second nature and giving us room to play around and especially to make mistakes and getting away with just a bruise. Style is always important, so being able to instantly play a trick back via the GoPro App and seeing what you are doing is incredible helpful.

GoPro: Freerunning allows you to see limitless beauty and incredible sights. Where has been the best place to get GoPro Footage?

Jason: The Greek island of endless rooftops, Im talking about Santorini. The possibilities are just endless, the view is incredible, riding scooters around the island and going for a swim after a long day with your friends is really special to me.

GoPro: What is your favorite setting on the GoPro? How do you use it the most?

Jason: 1080p120 for everything that shows the full movement, and I like to use Superview for POV shots to make sure to get the surrounding area!
