NANGU.TV UNVEILS HD GUI AND SHOWCASES RECOMMENDATION ENGINE AT IBC 2013 06 Sep 2013

nangu.TV, the pioneering media platform provider for IPTV and OTT services, has launched its HD GUI at IBC 2013. Based on feedback by customers, the new HD interface provides users with both a stylish and sophisticated design that also enhances usability of the platform by providing a clear and easy-to-use navigation process.

As well as the HD GUI, nangu.TV is also showcasing its Recommendation Engine. As more and more viewers rely on discussions with friends or previous viewing patterns when selecting movies and TV programmes, platform providers and operators have to provide new ways of pushing relevant content to viewers.

nangu.TV has addressed this issue with its Recommendation Engine, which provides a simple way for viewers to access relevant content thereby giving advertisers a targeted approach. Incorporated into the nangu.TV app, the company's Recommendation Engine enables viewers watching content powered by the nangu.TV platform to receive recommendations. These are based on previous viewing habits and established patterns.

Kabourek adds, The Recommendation Engine works by making a complex system of associations between individual elements. When an action, such as pressing play or bookmarking is carried out, the Recommendation Engine immediately highlights this as the focal point and reveals the content that is in any way connected to it.

Additional clicks, such as clicking further detail , will strengthen connections and generate new content. Recommendations can show similar movies, genres, date of production or other user preferences. The Recommendation Engine can even go as far as to make recommendations on similarity of scenes. Fingerprinting allows for predictions to be made based on the visual effects; a feature that users may not even identify as a criteria that affects their liking of a movie or series. The system makes associations between seemingly irrelevant content to result in a large number of options and new content that the viewer may be interested in. The end result is a very intricate web of connections between various elements.
