CBC Announces Promotion of Brian Maloney, Streamlining Leadership Structure for CBC Radio Stations

Brian Maloney has been promoted to Vice President of Radio at Capitol Broadcasting Company. CBC President & CEO James F. Goodmon Jr. announced this move to streamline the leadership of CBCs radio stations on Thursday, January 25, 2018.

Maloney is now responsible for CBC Sports Radio and MIX 101.5 in Raleigh and Sunrise Broadcasting and WILM-TV in Wilmington. The new structure will create new opportunities for the stations.

Brian has been a lifelong radio professional, and I am confident he is ready to take these respective properties to the next level, said Goodmon. He is the longest tenured GM in this market and has a vast array of experiences across multiple formats. He is an innovator who understands the power of radio, and he is well prepared to shepherd us into the future.

Maloney joined CBC in the fall of 2009, when CBC acquired three radio stations from Curtis Media, including 850 The Buzz where he served as General Manager.

Radio Ink tapped Maloney as one of the Best Radio Managers in the Country in 2016. Under his leadership, 99.9 The Fan (WCMC-FM) won the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters 2015 Radio Station of the Year Award for Large Market, a first for CBC Sports Radio.

Katie Phillips serves as General Manager at WRAL-FM, a promotion she earned in February 2015.

Katie Phillips will continue to be a key leader in the organization, said Goodmon. She's risen through the radio ranks and knows the market and format. She has done an outstanding job positioning MIX 101.5 for the future, including the establishment and growth of a fresh morning show.

Maloney began oversight of Sunrise and WILM last October. Brian Schimmel and Connie Knox serve as General Managers of Sunrise and WILM, respectively.
