Here is something we don't do very often, a new major release! We are proud to present to you: Vidispine API 5.0. The new Vidispine API 5.0 comes with a lot of new features, but also an overhaul of the underlying components of Vidispine. This helps customers deploy Vidispine on more environments, it includes several performance and security fixes, and it makes it easier to build faster and larger systems.
We released Vidispine API 1.0 in 2009, 2.0 in 2010, 3.0 in 2011 and 4.0 in 2013. Now we are very excited to finally release Vidispine API 5.0! Read about the new features here.
New platform In Vidispine API 5.0 we have added a new JDK (Java 11). This makes process and memory control easier in containerized environment. By moving from OpenEJB to Spring we see improved start-up time. We have also improved scaling and clustering.
Additionally, we have upgraded our Transcoder with new codecs from Nablet for H.264, XDCamHD and AAC, including 8 channel support.
Document metadata search Document metadata has been around as a way of organizing duplicates of metadata for a long time. With Vidispine API 5.0, the search capabilities have been vastly improved by the addition of a new endpoint.
VSA to VSA transfers VSA, the workhorse that was introduced with the first version of VidiXplore, has now been improved to support direct VSA to VSA transfers. This will make it easier to use VSAs to build multi-site configurations. Or multi-cloud!
New Script Engine In Vidispine API 5.0, we have replaced the old JavaScript Engine. The new one a new Script Engine fully supports ECMAScript 6/2016+, which makes it much easier to write custom job steps. Also, debugging of your custom steps has been improved: You can do that directly from your browser!
New Vidinet services Upgrade now to Vidispine API 5.0 to make use of new Vidinet services, including Bitmovin transcoding and Vidispine Cognitive Services.
