Javier Limon, Berklee Alumni Receive Latin Grammy Nominations

Berklee Mediterranean Music Institute artistic director Javier Lim n has been nominated for two Latin Grammy Awards, and five Berklee alumni have received a total of 10 notations across six categories, including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Contemporary Tropical Album, Best Singer-Songwriter Album, Best Engineered Album, and Producer of the Year. Winners will be announced at the 14th annual Latin Grammy Awards, Thursday, November 21, 2013, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

In the Producer of the Year category, Lim n was nominated for his work on Jos Merc s album Mi nica Llave, featuring Berklee faculty and students, as well as for Flamenco En Black & White by Ariadna Castellanos 12, which was recorded and mixed by Rob Jaczko, chair of Music Production and Engineering. In the Album of the Year category, Lim n was nominated for his contributions to Alejandro Sanzs La M sica No Se Toca.

Singer, songwriter, and producer Juan Luis Guerra 83 received three nominations, while recording engineers Benny Faccone 78, Shafik Palis 01, and Sebastian De Peyrecave '04 each received a pair of nominations.

Since the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences founded the awards in 2000, to date, 24 Berklee alumni have received 71 Latin Grammy Awards.
