ABHB on Track to Clear Backlog with Synapse Home Reporting

The introduction of 16 new Synapse Home Reporting systems across South Wales in January 2017 has already proved to be a great success. Aneurin Bevan Health Board (ABHB) covers seven hospitals across Gwent and is part of the Synapse PACS Wales network.
The Fujifilm home reporting solutions we acquired have been extremely well received by our radiologists said Stephen Buckle, Radiology Clinical IT Systems Manager at ABHB. The new equipment has allowed them to work flexibly from home covering a full range of reporting, including the use of voice recognition. The equipment provides us with the ability to increase core reporting capacity, and this contributes significantly to meeting the reporting demand of the health board. It's early days but this should help clear the backlog of reporting we currently have.
The Synapse Home Reporting system is Fujifilm's solution to the increasing demand from both radiologists and healthcare organisations for hospital grade remote reporting. This not only provides significant flexibility for radiologists who can work from home when on call, but it's also a cost effective investment for the board or trust as it negates expensive travel expense claims and also allows for a single radiologist to be on call for multiple sites.
Crucially the Synapse platform enables radiologists to replicate their hospital reporting environment at home, including user profile, settings and preferences. The system supports both PACS and RIS driven reporting workflow, using voice recognition, and includes the full range of image manipulation tools including 3D image rendering. Users are presented with the same graphical user interface that they see in the hospital, and unique Synapse compression technology maintains functionality over restricted bandwidths and networks.
