Top tips: How to get the most out of your TV ahead of the big match

As European football comes to a climax for another year, fans across the continent are gathering in front of their TVs to watch all the action unfold. Here are five simple tips to get that stadium experience inside your sitting room:

Find your seat

Depending on the size and resolution of your TV, where you sit can make a big difference to your football viewing experience:

TVs with a higher resolution not only allow you spot even the most intricate details - such as blades of grass or even the intricate detail of Neymar's tattoos - they also allow you to sit closer to the screen without being able to distinguish between individual pixels or suffering from subsequent image deterioration:

HD TV = 3 x times the display height (e.g. min 2.4m for a 65 TV)

Ultra HD 4K = 0.75 x times the display height (e.g. min. 60cm for a 65 TV)

Get the most out of the beautiful game

Make sure Surround Sound' is turned on and position any secondary speakers away from the wall to avoid unwanted echo. Speakers should also be positioned an equal distance from the viewer to ensure optimum performance

Your TV may also have a special audio feature especially calibrated for sports, such as a Stadium' setting. This will adjust the bass and treble levels to create an accurate reproduction of the sound inside the ground

Fast and fluid football

The fastest and most fluid European football will be on show in Berlin, and you want your TV to do it justice. To get the smoothest experience and avoid judder, check your TV's settings to see if it has an Intelligent Frame Creation' feature:

When activated, your television will merge the frame before and the frame after, smoothing out the image and helping to minimise motion blur

If your TV doesn't have this feature, look for the Sharpness' setting - if you're experiencing blurry pictures, increasing the setting may be a simple way to resolve the issue
