Final preparations are underway at the Baltic Opera & Baltic Dance Theatre in Gda sk, Poland for the 2013 Eurovision Young Dancers competition, Friday (14/6).
The contest showcases the best in contemporary dance styles, including jazz, contemporary and hip hop and is open to artists aged between 16 and 21.
EBU Executive Supervisor Vladislav Yakovlev says audience enjoyment will be enhanced this year by a change to the format. In addition to a solo performance, each artist must participate in a group dance, choreographed during Young Dancers Week (8-14/6) by renowned British choreographers the BalletBoyz.
Two acts will be selected to go into the next round to perform a spontaneous dance. A winner will be selected by the jury following a dance-off' duel.
The ten public service broadcasters have confirmed their participation in the contest hosted by Polish broadcaster TVP:

ABOUT THE COMPETITION
The Eurovision Young Dancers was first staged in Reggio Emilia, Italy, in 1985 and takes place every two years, alternating with the Eurovision Young Musicians competition.
The competition is open to solo dancers aged between 16 and 21 from countries whose public service media are members of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
Daniel Modou Sarr from Norway won the Eurovision Young Dancers 2011 in Oslo.
