On January 25, 2014, KDDI and Okinawa Cellular will begin releasing 5 new products in the Spring 2014 lineup, including 4 au smartphone models and a tablet.
Following the Winter 2013 lineup, which included 6 smartphone models such as the original isai and popular classics like the Xperia (TM) Z1 and AQUOS PHONE SERIE, the Spring 2014 lineup features unique smartphone models that offer a new style of smartphone use, including Japans first large-screen model with a curved display, and the worlds largest [1] and thinnest [2] smartphone model.
The devices support the 800 MHz LTE platinum band and provide high-speed data communications at a maximum downlink speed of 150 Mbps [3] [4], which enables cutting-edge smartphones to be used comfortably.
Four smartphone models
G Flex is a phablet that features Japans first curved display, providing a cinematic viewing experience for movies and Full Seg broadcasts.
Xperia (TM) Z Ultra is a phablet with a large 6.4-inch display and a 6.5-mm thick body, making it the worlds thinnest full HD smartphone.
AQUOS PHONE SERIE mini is a compact, high-spec smartphone featuring a full HD IGZO display with thin-border EDGEST design, a battery with a capacity of over 2,000 mAh, a quad-core CPU, and a slender form that fits comfortably in one hand.
With an updated design and colors, the URBANO L02 is the successor to the URBANO L01, which has been well received by a wide range of customers, from first-time smartphone users to the elderly.
One tablet model
AQUOS PAD is a compact tablet with 7-inch IGZO display and thin-border EDGEST design. It is also equipped with a high-performance 13.1-megapixel camera with a bright F1.9 lens and a quick 0.4-second startup time.
The smartphones and tablet announced today will go on display from January 23, 2014 at the KDDI Designing Studio (Harajuku, Tokyo), au NAGOYA (Sakae, Nagoya), and au OSAKA (Umeda, Osaka).
