The River actor Chumani Pan is currently playing the kidnapper who's got Lindiwe Dikana's son Andile Dikana.

Pan - who recently secured the role on the 1Magic telenovela reveals it was fun getting into character.

CHUMANI PAN: I LOVED THE KIDNAPPER' Popular actor - Chumani Pan recently revealed in a Drum Magazine interview that he loved the character of Andile's kidnapper in The River from the moment he received the script.

I loved the character when I got the script for it. I am glad they allowed me to interpret him the way he spoke to me.

I was looking forward to the challenge of playing a bad guy because I'm never the bad guy.

I was happy when they called me up for this role, saying they would be shooting in Cape Town and they wanted me to be involved.

He adds that even though the show was looking for a hardcore scary kidnapper, his interpretation was to put a quirky spin on him.

There is nothing scarier than an unpredictable and impulsive person.

Pan plays the unnamed kidnapper boss who arranged the kidnapping of Lindiwe Dlamini Dikana (Sindi Dlathu) and Zweli Dikana's (Hlomla Dandala) son Andile Dikana (Lunga Mofokeng).

JOINING THE RIVER' AND THE WOMAN IS KING' The seasoned actor says he cannot talk much about his character but promises more riveting storylines and says viewers must stay glued to their screens.

The 35-year-old star who has over 16 years of experience and has been involved in many productions also tells the publication that he's done shooting with The River and he is onto his next project.

He's also been working on an Afrikaans show about detectives on KykNet and also shot a small cameo in Viola Davis and Thuso Mbedu's The Woman King.

I am also on Wounds and I have been working on adverts too.
