HBS TECH TEAMS TUNE IN AND TURN ON - 28/03/2014 With tomorrow marking 75 days left until the kick-off of the Opening Match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil , HBS teams are busy literally around the world assembling the various technical components of the massive host broadcast operation.

Technical and production teams in Munich this week

In Munich, where HBS' Engineering department has been supervising the build-up process, the past two weeks have seen the various technical and production crews from France, Germany and the United Kingdom take turns attending specific workshops. Thanks to the innovative Equipment Room Container (ERC) concept described in a previous article, the teams have been able to train on the exact same pieces of equipment and within the same set-up that they will be using in Brazil. This will allow HBS staff to hit the ground running, with the only real difference between their training and working conditions being the heat of Brazil versus the snowy climate in Munich in recent days.

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) construction process continues to gain speed, with the first major pieces of technical equipment being installed in the newly built multilateral spaces. The HBS Engineering and Construction departments spent the last few years working in close collaboration to design the most efficient integration process. This meticulous planning has proven to have been worthwhile, as the contents of the various containers arriving in Rio have been seamlessly plugged into the overall IBC structure, which will open to Media Rights Licensees on 12 May. A similar process will soon begin at the twelve venues of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil .
