Goldcrest Post Helps Send Three Films to Sundance

Goldcrest Post, New York, helped to prepare three films for their world premieres at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, beginning this month in Park City, Utah. They include Native Son, the film that opens the festival, Them That Follow and The Death of Dick Long. The independent post house also provided finishing services for High Flying Bird, which will make its world premiere at the Slamdance Festival, also slated for this month in Park City, as part of a tribute to its director, Steven Soderbergh.

Native Son is director Rashid Johnson's modern reimagining of Richard Wright's seminal novel about a young African-American man named Bigger Thomas. It has been ranked among the most anticipated films of the year by AV Club, IMDB, Playlist, Filmmaker Magazine and others. Goldcrest Post provided sound editorial services with Ryan M. Price as Supervising Sound Editor.

Them That Follow, which will screen in Sundance's U.S. Dramatic Competition, is writers/directors Britt Poulton and Dan Madison Savage's drama about a snake-handling church deep in Appalachia. Goldcrest Post provided editorial finishing and final color grading for the film, with Nat Jenks as colorist.

The Death of Dick Long, screening in the festival's NEXT program, is director Daniel Scheinert tale of the death of a man in a small Alabama town. Scheinert shared Directing Award honors at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival as co-director of Swiss Army Man. Goldcrest Post provided finishing and final color grading for The Death of Dick Long, with Nat Jenks as colorist.

Steven Soderbergh's new drama High Flying Bird tells the riveting story of a sports agent (Andr Holland) and his phenom client (Caleb McLaughlin) who are faced with an unorthodox business proposition during an NBA lockout. Like the director's previous film, Unsane, the new film was captured entirely on an iPhone in a production that spanned just two weeks.

Goldcrest Post provided 4K HDR color grading and picture finishing, with Nat Jenks as colorist. It also prepared HDR deliverables for streaming and theatrical.
