Viz Content Pilot 5.7 released featuring updates to templates, timeline editor, ATOM feed integration and search capabilities

Viz Content Pilot 5.7 includes several enhancements for managing the database as well as working with graphics and video in the newsroom.

Viz Content Pilot 5.7 is the latest version of Vizrt's content and control application that provides broadcasters a template-based workflow for managing their graphic and video content.

Timeline editor

Journalists in the newsroom access video content from Viz Media Engine through the Viz Content Pilot newsroom component. This interface integrates directly with their native newsroom control system - iNews, ENPS, Octopus, Dalet, etc. Video content is searched by keywords and the journalist edits the video and adds graphics to the video on a timeline. With Viz Content Pilot 5.7 journalists are able to have multiple transition logic related graphics on the timeline on several tracks, creating an overlap of the graphics. This gives a more sophisticated graphic presentation when the content is played to air from Viz Engine.

This non-conform workflow allows the journalist to change graphic content up until the moment the video and graphics are played on air. It also allows the graphic and video content to be played in a variety of formats in real-time from the Viz Engine for multiplatform distribution. Viewers on mobile devices, online, and on-air have the best possible viewing experience without the delay caused by transcoding.

ATOM feed integrationATOM feeds are a web standard to provide structured data to a website. These feeds are typically used for financial, sports, weather and other continually updating information. Viz Content Pilot 5.7 has an easy tool for mapping ATOM feeds to tab fields in a graphic template. This gives convenient fill-in help for tab field data when using the feeds.

Tagging templatesThe Viz Content Pilot newsroom component gives the journalist the ability to choose and edit templates to create graphic content for a broadcast. Viz Content Pilot 5.7 enhances the sorting process of these templates by creating tags for the template types. Individual templates are given a common tag, such as OTS. The list of templates displays the tag with all the related topics in an easy to search list.

Media search

When searching for media, such as images for use in templates, journalists need to make sure they find an image that will work for the selected template. Disallowed Keywords is a new tool that prevents the journalist from using an image if it contains a specific keyword in the Disallowed Keywords property. Disallowed keywords are defined in the template creation process using Viz Content Pilot's Template Wizard.

The media search capabilities in Viz Content Pilot have also been enhanced to allow person search. This feature groups all the images of a person together for fast and accurate search results that target just the related images.
