Sonia Mbele's production company, Sonia Mbele Films, which produced seasons one and two of The Real Housewives of Johannesburg will not produce season three of the popular reality show according to entertainment commentator, Phil Mphela.

Mbele's company has produced several hit shows including 100 Lives, Take me out, This is Me, Meet the Radebes and The Pastor's Wives.

A new season of the popular but controversial show, has been green-lit for 2021 slate.

BEHIND-THE-SCENES DRAMA M-Net's senior publicity manager, Philly Kubheka told IOL that the production companies' partners Sonia Mbele, Rebone Sesing, and Pebble Gqunta cited irreconcilable differences for closing the company.

Kubheka assured viewers that the popular reality series, will not be affected by the closure in a statement.

As a channel, we ensured that The Real Housewives of Johannesburg was not affected by the company shutting down hence we were able to produce a great show for the next season.

Season three was briefed out and different companies came to pitch.

We will announce the production company once the show gets commissioned.

-- Channel24 reported in April that season three was also halted due to rumours circling online about a possible physical altercation between cast members.

Season two cast members included: Christall Kay, Brinnette Seopela, Lebo Jojo Gunguluza, Lethabo Lejoy' Mathatho, Mpho Merriweather, Nompumelelo Mrs Mops' Mophatlane, and Tarina Patel.

M-Net confirmed in a statement that season three had been discontinued due to unforeseen circumstances experienced during the production of the show.

Irealhousewives.com reported that the series was also halted due to the COVID pandemic and the launch of The Real Housewives of Durban.

The website also reported that Ugandan socialite-musician, Zarinah Hassan, who's commonly known as Zari the Boss Lady, is joining season three of the reality show.

The 40-year-old socialite and Diamond Platnumz's baby mama is set to be the first East African to feature on the show.
