MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM started off the New Year in a magical way with a contest involving the biggest mouse in show business. The MIX 101.5 Magical Family Adventure recently culminated with Kena from Garner winning the grand prize: a trip for four to Walt Disney World in Florida including round trip airfare, resort hotel accommodations at Disney's Port Orleans Resort- Riverside, a Disney dining plan and MORE!
So how did the big idea for a trip to Disney happen?
We bounced around a couple of ideas playing off the New Year resolution theme; financial stability (pay your bills), heath & beauty (shopping spree + health clubs), spending more time with the family time (vacations) etc, said WRAL-FM Promotions Director Jason Newton. We narrowed it down to spending more time with the family and nothing screams family more than Disney!
Listeners could log on to wralfm.com to register and then listened weekdays for their name to be announced live on-air one time either in the Mornings with The Gene & Julie Show, or Midday with Diane Ramsey , or in the Afternoons with Jim Kelly. They had ten minutes to call MIX at (919) 860-1015 and give us their best Mickey, Donald or Goofy impression to become qualified to win the trip. A new name would be announced if the person didn't call back, and their name went back into the pool for another chance.
A total of thirty (30) qualifiers received a $100 cash gift card and one lucky listener won the trip that was announced today on The Gene & Julie Show.
We ended up with a qualifier every shift and posted each qualifiers impression on our social networking feeds plus emailed a copy for themselves to have, explained Newton.
MIX also received unsolicited trade recognition from Radio Online for the big contest. The promo made the top entry on their daily promotions newsletter on January 26th.
The MIX 101.5 Magical Family Adventure Grand Prize announcement came during the Gene & Julie Show on Monday, February 1st. Rumor has it that WRAL-FM has another huge promo planned for February.
