Actress and Kings of Joburg producer Connie Ferguson, who plays Shona Ferguson's on-screen twin sister Veronica Masire have dismissed concerns about her ex-husband Neo Matsunyane featuring in the second season of the hit series.

CONNIE FERGUSON: I'M NOT THE CASTING DIRECTOR The Kings of Joburg actress Connie Ferguson, who played a Masire Mermaid in season one and plays Veronica Masire in season two revealed in an interview with Bongani Bingwa on 702 on Friday (27 January) that her ex-husband Neo Matsunyane is a brilliant performer.

PLAYING VERONICA IN KINGS OF JOBURG' The award-winning actress-producer Connie Ferguson first appeared as a Masire Mermaid, who tortured Simon Masire (played by the late Shona Ferguson) in Kings of Joburg season one and plays Veronica Masire in season two alongside her ex-husband Neo Matsunyane.

She makes a shocking return at Mogomotsi Masire (Zolisa Xaluva) and Phumzi's (Cindy Mahlangu) wedding and surprises her family, who haven't seen her in years.

She stars alongside Gomora's Zolisa Xaluva, who has to carry the dark family secret his on-screen brother Simon Masire (played by Shona Ferguson) carried in season one.

Veronica disappeared from her family decades ago after she was sexually abused and travelled the world to escape her terrible past.

Returning cast members include Gomora's Thembi Seete, The Queen's Cindy Mahlangu, Nnekwa Tsajwa, Muvhango's Buhle Samuels, Thapelo Mokoena, TK Sebothoma and Altovise Lawrence.

The Masires, haunted by a supernatural family curse, find themselves tangled in a web of betrayal that threatens to destroy the family in this riveting new season.

The eight-part, action-drama series picks up from a successful first season which saw fragmented family structures, treacherous brotherhoods, and a deal with the devil , reports The Citizen.

TshisaLIVE reports that the actress, who is also the executive producer has dedicated the second season to her late husband Shona Ferguson, who created the award-winning series.
