
Eurovision 2014: a display in light, projection, sound and pyrotechnics En el B&W Hallerne Arena, los viejos astilleros en los que se desarroll el festival, Eurovisi n volvi a ser todo un escaparate tecnol gico de luz, proyecci n, sonido y pirotecnia. En total, m s de 700 personas entre c maras, personal de producci n y t cnicos, han hecho posible uno de los mayores espect culos audiovisuales del a o con un presupuesto de 32 millones de euros.
El Festival de la Canci n de Eurovisi n es, sin duda, uno de los mayores eventos internacionales de televisi n del a o, con participantes de todo el continente batallando por el t tulo de mejor canci n europea.
Cada edici n se estima que la siguen 125 millones de espectadores en 56 pa ses, incluida por vez primera este a o, China. Organizado por la Uni n Europea Radiodifusi n (UER). Su red de contribuci n y distribuci n de se ales, Eurovisi n, es una de las m s grandes del planeta combinando fibra y sat lite y sirve, entre otros muchos acontecimientos, el propio festival.
Eurovisi n distribuye la transmisi n en vivo a trav s de sat lite con una huella que cubre toda Europa y Oriente Medio. Esto significa que la se al s lo es necesario enviarla una vez, pudiendo a partir de ahora los broadcasters de todo el continente transmitir la se al en vivo para sus espectadores.
Pero quiz s uno los aspectos m s dif cil del festival de Eurovisi n sea el momento de las votaciones, ya que conlleva enlazar con env o y retorno todos los pa ses participantes. Gestionar al mil metro la capacidad de su red resulta todo un reto para asegurar el momento de la popular votaci n.
En el n cleo de su red , Eurovisi n utiliza conexiones de fibra ptica de alta capacidad de Colt capaces de transmitir datos a 10 Gbps proporcionando una tuber a de gran ancho de banda fiable que permite gestionar las contribuciones de toda Europa.
Sin embargo, cuando no hay ninguna interacci n de dos v as entre los comentaristas en los diferentes pa ses, la latencia se convierte en el gran problema. El sat lite a ade un retardo de tiempo, que puede llegar incluso a dos segundos, por lo que Eurovisi n se ve obligada a jugar al mismo tiempo con la latencia sobre fibra para ajustar los canales de env o y retorno.
A great technological showcase
En cuanto al B&W Hallerne Arena, los viejos astilleros en los que se desarroll el festival, Eurovisi n volvi a ser todo un escaparate tecnol gico de luz, proyecci n, sonido y pirotecnia.
Al frente de la direcci n del festival estuvo Per Zachariassen, con Claus Zie en el dise o de la producci n, corriendo con la retransmisi n la radiotelevisi n p blica danesa DR.
Como ya viene siendo habitual, Riedel despleg su tecnolog a de red para audio, v deo, datos e intercom asegurando una cobertura completa en todo el recinto.
EVS se encarg un a o m s de servir los mejores momentos de la gala con sus sistemas de servidor XT3 y la suite IPDirector.
En los d as previos a la gala, Best Broadcast emple el software Just:Live de ToolsOnAir para enviar las entrevistas y comentarios recogidos entre el p blico congregado en el Copenhagen City Hall Plaza. Su motor de playout integrado proporciona una gran calidad y back-to-back playout de codecs mixtos, relaciones de aspecto y tama o de p xel, sobre todo en lo que a la emisi n de los videoclips se refer a. El sistema tambi n permiti incluir desde la unidad m vil gr ficos en tiempo real.
Desde el punto de vista de proyecci n, la organizaci n del festival volvi a decantarse otro a o por la tecnolog a de Barco, jugando como ya ocurriera en la pasada edici n un papel destacados el proyector HDQ-2K40. Un total de 16 unidades HDQ se combinaron con 16 proyectores HDX-W20 para mostrar las im genes m s brillantes .
El escenario de Eurovisi n 2014, presidido este a o por un gran cubo de LED de 20 35 metros, constaba de 120 m dulos con una superficie especial en LED para proyecci n, lo que permit la visualizaci n de im genes o animaciones. MediaTec fue la empresa encargada de la integraci n de la tecnolog a de Barco en esta configuraci n, tal como hizo el a o pasado.
El escenario, dise ado por Claus Zier, ten a 20 metros de altura y 1.200 metros cuadrados, lo que lo convierte en el mayor nunca construido en la historia de Dinamarca. Para el levantamiento de la estructura, que recordaba a los astilleross, se emplearon 40 toneladas de acero forradas de 3.000 luces fluorescentes, 730 de LED, y una pantalla de policarbonato acr lico que permit a la proyecci n de las im genes en cada una de las actuaciones. Es de destacar que el suelo era sensible al tacto por lo que las im genes procedentes de los proyectores Barco pod an interactuar con los artistas conforme caminaban por l.
En cuanto al audio, en el B&W Hallerne Arena, un sistema de PA de m s de 11.400 kilos junto a 150 globos gigantes dise ados con 60.000 metros cuadrados de tela permitieron contar con un sonido cristalino en todo el recinto con un eco de apenas tres segundos.
Para la gala, la DR emple veintid s c maras. En total, m s de 700 personas entre c maras, personal de producci n y t cnicos, entre otros, han hecho posible uno de los mayores espect culos audiovisuales del a o con un presupuesto de 32 millones de euros.
