Berklee to Hold Clinics in Mumbai and Delhi

Berklee is holding clinics in Mumbai and Delhi. The two-day programs, held in Mumbai on October 31 and November 1, 2015, and in Delhi on November 3 and 4, 2015, give musicians ages 15 and up the opportunity to engage in interactive presentations and jam sessions with Berklee faculty members. Participants who complete the program will receive a certificate of completion from Berklee.

Both clinics offer a performance forum focusing on creative approaches to performance and production in the studio, a workshop on musicianship in the studio, and a studio performance ensemble. Students will learn from Berklee faculty members Chantel Hampton (voice), Mark Copeland (keys/piano), and Winston Maccow (bass), as well as Berklee graduate and Global Music Institute founder Tarun Balani 10 (drums).

Eligibility

Open to any musician at least 15 years old by the start of the program with at least six months of musical experience.

All applicants must submit supporting material demonstrating his or her musical experience and abilities (preferred format: video URLs).

In 2013, Berklee established the Berklee India Exchange as a platform for cultural conversation about Indian music through artist residencies, musical collaborations, and performances. Presenting an opportunity for Indian students to showcase instruments like the tabla, sarood, and bhapang, the Berklee India Exchange is an axis point for Indian students to share music with their classmates hailing from more than 100 countries, and vice versa. On the heels of recent events, including clinics by Clinton Cerejo in 2013, an artist residency by A.R. Rahman in 2014, and Berklee President Roger H. Brown's visit to India in April 2015, the Berklee India Exchange is poised to continue empowering students from all backgrounds. On April 3, 2015, President Brown announced the launch of the A.R. Rahman Scholarship at a press conference at KM Music Conservatory, founded by Rahman, in Chennai. Established to help bring a student from India to Berklee, the college will seek a scholarship recipient in the upcoming admissions cycle to join the 2016 entering undergraduate class. The scholarship is available only to a student holding Indian citizenship.
