SES has signed an agreement with EuropaSat for the distribution of SES Broadband, its satellite broadband service with download speeds of up to 20 Mbit/s, in the UK and other countries across Europe.
The UK-based Internet Service Provider EuropaSat offers customers and businesses a full range of services, including online ordering, pre- and post-sales support, logistics and maintenance, both direct via its website www.europasat.com and through its channel of resellers and marketing partners. In turn, SES Broadband Services is providing all the space, network and hub operations for the service.
The service uses Ka-band capacity on the ASTRA 2F satellite located at the orbital position 28.2 degrees East. This capacity will be further extended after the launch of ASTRA 2E, which also be located at the orbital neighborhood 28.2 degrees East.
We are delighted to partner with EuropaSat and add SES Broadband's unique service features to their portfolio, said Patrick Biewer, Managing Director of SES Broadband Services. We are convinced that this partnership, together with the expansion of our Ka-band offer and with download speeds of up to 20 Mbit/s, will prove to be another milestone in our mission to bridge the digital divide across Europe and beyond.
Our mission as a company is to deliver the widest range of quality broadband and offer alternatives via satellite so that our customers always have the best solution to be connected, wherever they are in Europe, said Andrew Walwyn, Managing Director at EuropaSat. Our partnership with SES Broadband comes at a truly exciting time, with the further extension of the SES Broadband high-speed Ka-band service across Europe.
SES, SSI-MONACO Sign MONACOSAT Collaboration Agreement
SES also signed a comprehensive collaboration agreement with SSI-Monaco (Space Systems International Monaco S.A.M.).
SSI-Monaco, founded in 2004, signed a Licence Agreement with the Monaco Government in 2009 for the development and use of the 52 degrees East Monaco orbital position and is notably responsible for the realization of the MonacoSat satellite project.
In November 2011, SSI signed a set of agreements with the Turkmenistan Ministry of Communications in relation to the use of the 52 degrees East SSI-Monaco orbital position. This set of agreements included the right for SSI to use 12 Ku-band transponders on the TurkmenSpace satellite of the Turkmenistan NSSC (National System of Satellite Communications) programme. In parallel, a contract was signed between Thales Alenia Space (TAS) and the Turkmenistan Ministry of Communications to manufacture the Turkmenistan NSCC satellite based on a Thales Alenia Space SPACEBUS 4000 C2. The satellite will be delivered in-orbit using a SpaceX Falcon 9 booster in late 2014, early 2015.
Under the terms of the agreement between SES and SSI-Monaco, SES will have the rights to commercialize the entire MonacoSat payload of 12 Ku-band transponders on board MonacoSat/TurkmenSpace.
Stated Gerson Souto, Chief Development Officer at SES: The agreement with SSI-Monaco is a clear win-win achievement for all parties involved. SES, an established satellite operator, is pleased to support the market-entry of new satellite start-ups and the development of new spacefaring nations who wish to participate in the global satellite communications market. SES looks forward to working with SSI-Monaco on this exciting satellite project.
Dr. Ilhami Aygun, President & CEO of SSI-Monaco, said: I am confident that the collaboration between SES and SSI-Monaco will be successful in bringing new opportunities to Central Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and Europe.
SES, NORDNET Further Expand Ka-band Service In France
SES announced that its long-standing partner NordNet has developed a new on-demand satellite broadband offering, for which it contracted additional Ka-band capacity on the SES satellite ASTRA 2F. The solution, based on SES Broadband Services' technology, offers download speeds of up to 20 Mbit/s for second residences and holiday homes in France and is marketed in France.
NordNet's offering called Satellite Internet Tempo is an on-demand internet access, which is available with a monthly subscription of 3 Euros. With this subscription, customers can order an internet pass for 2.99 Euros per day. The offer also includes a permanent Voice over IP telephone connection and, with the help of the included television-LNB, access to television channels from the ASTRA orbital slot 19.2 degrees East.
We are happy that NordNet is again pioneering satellite broadband services in Europe, offering the first on-demand satellite-based internet service for second residences and holiday homes in France, said Patrick Biewer, Managing Director of SES Broadband Services. We are convinced that this new offering, with its Triple Play features, is a complete solution that responds to currently unserved needs in the market.
Francis Piet, CEO of NordNet, said: Thanks to the efficiency and the versatility of the Broadband by Satellite solution, we can offer innovative solutions which answer specific needs. And with a partner like SES at our side, we really feel the sky is the limit.
SES, MNC Sky Vision Sign Capacity Deal to Supplement DTH Platform in Indonesia
SES and MNC Sky Vision, Indonesia's premier satellite Pay-TV provider with its well-known brand, Indovision, today announced an agreement to provide capacity on the SES-7 satellite to support Indovision's future Chinese-language Direct-to-Home (DTH) package.
The multi-transponder and multi-year deal provides Indovision with access to the Ku-band capacity aboard SES-7 at the prime orbital location of 108.2 degrees East. Indovision intends to offer more than a dozen Chinese language channels using the capacity, which would allow Indovision to reach a niche audience seg
