New Year, New Moto Mods and a Challenge for More

At Motorola, we know that the best ideas can come from anywhere. Last year, we worked with developers on the moto mods ecosystem in a variety of ways a crowdfunding campaign with Indiegogo, our Accelerator Program and distribution of our Moto Mod Development Kits (MDK) to interested dev teams. Through this collective brainpower our moto mod universe expanded. We received a variety of ideas at various stages from concept to prototype. Today, we're sharing two of them with you.

What's New In The Moto Mods Developer Program

Lenovo Vital Moto Mod1

Now you can put the power of health in your hands literally. The more we know about our bodies, the more empowered we can feel to keep ourselves healthy and strong. With one connected mobile device, you can accurately measure your own five key vital signs. Equipped to measure your heart rate, respiratory rate, Pulse Ox, core body temperature, and for the first time, accurate systolic and diastolic blood pressure from your finger, this moto mod is the smart way to measure your health.

Livermorium Slider Keyboard Moto Mod2

A grand prize winner of the first Transform the Smartphone Challenge with Indiegogo, the Livermorium Keyboard Moto Mod gives you a full QWERTY slider keyboard and a screen that can tilt up to 60 degrees. This moto mod delivers when a touch screen can't handle your typing needs while throwing back to the keyboard days. Taking this moto mod from the Indiegogo campaign through our Accelerator Program is only the beginning as we look ahead to bringing future innovations to market.

Transform the Smartphone Challenge3

Last year we collaborated with Indiegogo, the global platform for entrepreneurs to bring their ideas from concept to market, on the Transform the Smartphone Challenge. We received hundreds of written submissions and worked closely with a group of developers on their prototypes.

This year, we're continuing our commitment to give people around the world open and equal access to our moto mods ecosystem. Now through February 6, submit your idea for a chance to receive a moto z phone, Moto Mod Development Kit (MDK) and support from the Indiegogo team to launch a successful crowdfunding campaign. The grand prize winners will receive a trip to our headquarters in Chicago to meet with the moto mods executive development team and discuss how to bring their ideas to life.

Availability and Pricing

The moto z Market app is available in the google play store in countries where moto z is available to purchase. The Livermorium Slider Keyboard Moto Mod will be available to purchase for $99 USD later this winter. The Lenovo Vital Moto Mod will be available to purchase for $395 USD in April.
