XL Video was proud to support Teenage Cancer Trusts annual run of live shows at Londons Royal Albert Hall for the third consecutive year. For this 15th anniversary XL Video supplied LED screens, live cameras and HD recordings for the seven shows in late March 2015.
The week-long run included a comedy night hosted by Kevin Bridges, plus live music shows headlined by Stereophonics, Noel Gallaghers High Flying Birds, Paul Weller, The Who, Van Morrison, and Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls.
All the shows featured a central flown screen, 36.6 square metres in total, formed from XL Videos Barco NX6 6mm LED. This screen displayed a mixture of the artists own playback content and logos, live IMAG footage and pre-recorded films about the Trusts work. Playback content was served from one of XLs Catalyst media servers.
In addition a wide LED banner screen formed from XLs ROE Visual MC-18T 18mm LED stretched the width of the stage. This displayed fundraising information and social media links to encourage the audience to get involved in spreading the word about Teenage Cancer Trusts work.
XLs Project Manager on site was Nilkanth Patel and Crew Chief was Simon Barett. LED Technician for the week was Wouter Vandenberghe with build and de-rig assistance from Steve Wood, Fabrizio DiLelio, and Joseph Earnshaw.
XL Video also supplied the camera system for this years Royal Albert Hall shows with four Sony HXC-100 cameras, and two Bradley CamBall 2 robocams used to capture the action every night. One of XLs large Grass Valley Kayak PPUs was used to mix the footage, and was engineered on alternate evenings by Richard Burford and Dhanuka Karunanayake.
Six AJA KiPro recorders were used to create HD records of each show for future use by Teenage Cancer Trust.
