ATEME, a global leader in advanced video compression solutions for the broadcast industry, today announced that once again it successfully demonstrated the power of its TITAN Live software-based live video solution at the 2017 French Open. TITAN Live was used to power a Virtual Reality application available during the entire tournament. The application offered a fully immersive 180 and 360 live viewing experience to tennis fans and was created by ATEMEs partner LiveLike. Available for free on iOS and Android devices, it used ATEMEs TITAN Live solution to encode UHD signals at various bit rates in order to offer the best video quality experience on tablets and smartphones to French Open fans.
TITAN Live is a high video quality, high density software compression solution, designed for cable, DTH, OTT live delivery of SD, HD and Ultra HD (UHD) content. TITAN Live is a pure CPU solution, that is hardware agnostic and runs on any OS: Linux, Windows and Virtual Machine. TITAN Live is based on ATEME 5th Generation STREAM compression engine and delivers the highest video quality at minimum bitrates with accelerated parallel processing. The solution also addresses current and future requirements by addressing main screens and multi-screen applications, from low resolutions up to UHDp60.
The French Open organizers sought to break new ground and to be a pioneer in delivering this year s tournament in Virtual Reality to fans with such scale and quality. LiveLike is thrilled have taken a critical role in the French Open VR project in close partnership with ATEME. More importantly, fans have really loved the experience giving the app stellar ratings. The experience went on to an impressive viewership for its first VR edition of the French Open, says Fabrice Lorenceau, cofounder and head of production at LiveLike.
