R&B singer and actor Brian Temba is happy to be back on the small screen as Abdul in Mzansi Magic's Gomora after exiting Muvhango as Ranthumeng four years ago.

Brian Temba as Ranthumeng in Muvhango'. Image via Twitter @ScreenAcess RANTHUMENG ON GOMORA' The Gomora actor and singer Brian Temba, who plays Abdul tells Drum Magazine that it's been a long time since he last played Ranthumeng on SABC 2's Muvhango.

His Muvhango character was married to The River actress Sindi Dlathu's character Thandaza.

Temba adds that his fans still call him Ranthumeng when they meet him on the streets or interact with him on social media.

There are some viewers who have said they are happy to see Ranthumeng on Gomora and I just laugh because I have learned to make peace with it. I think when you play a character well and make it believable, it becomes hard for the audience to separate the actor from the character, he tells Drum.

His Gomora character is a blast from Pretty's (Siyasanga Papu) past and although she knows Abdul as Nhlakanipho he changed his name for religious reasons when he was in the USA.

Abdul is there to shake things up. Also, Sbonga is too relaxed, so Abdul is going to sweep in there trying to win back the love of his life.

Abdul has a silver tongue, so as much as he will be able to win Pretty back, I am not sure if he will be able to keep her, because of his lies, he says.

Ever since Abdul came back into her life Pretty can see 2 things:

1) Her husband lacks ambition, happy to live off Mam Sonto

2) Her husband doesn't believe in her as a singer. And ex boyfriend Abdul certainly does

BRIAN TEMBA IN MUVHANGO' Temba shares he exited Muvhango in August 2018 to focus on his music career.

I just had to focus a little bit on the music and do my thing and I am grateful for the time that I have had to take a break from acting and focus on the music. The music will never stop, still busy getting booked so even though I am acting again, I have not put music on the back burner.

He admits that his first day on set was nerve-wracking and thanks the cast and crew for making him feel at ease.

But everyone was so welcoming and made me feel at ease. On day two I was back like I never left. It also feels great to be part of a family like the Gomora family. I am really loving it.

The star reveals that he's been nominated for three South African Music Awards in the best album, best male, and best R&B categories and adds that music will always be his first choice if he had to choose.

Hands down, it would have to be music.
