Signature Series Presents Saxophone Prodigy Braxton Cook Cooks latest album blends jazz and R&B with a message of social change.

Berklee's fall Signature Series welcomes home Boston native and critically acclaimed saxophonist Braxton Cook on Wednesday, November 29, at 7:00 p.m. at the Red Room at Cafe 939. The songwriter and composer will lead a Berklee sextet in performing selections from his catalog. Dubbed a jazz prodigy by The Fader, Cook has a world-class command of multiple styles and an ability to merge elements from jazz, soul, and R&B into a distinct, refreshing sound that stands on its own.

Braxton Cook has shown himself to be a wildly gifted saxophonist, singer, and songwriter, taking inspiration from across the musical map and helping to bring improvised music to a broader audience, said Mathew Stevens, associate professor in the Ensemble Department.

Cook has performed alongside pianist and composer Jon Batiste on the soundtrack for Pixar's Soul, which won the Academy Award for Best Original Score. He was featured in an Emmy-winning Vox Earworm video, The most feared song in jazz, explained, and his most recent album, Who Are You When No One Is Watching, released earlier this year, was described by BET as one of the most anticipated releases of 2023 and by Forbes as a superb new album.

Besides releasing five projects under his own name, Cook has worked with Rihanna, Solange, Christian McBride, Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah (formerly Christian Scott B.M. '04) as well as Berklee faculty member and trumpeter Marquis Hill.

The concert is directed by Oscar Stagnaro, Matthew Nicholl, and Lee Abe. Admission is $15/$20 in advance and $20/$25 on the day of the show. This show will be seated. Tickets are available online.
