Bectu is consulting its members on proposals to resume production on high-end TV and film projects.
According to Variety, members are being consulted for their thoughts and responses on proposals by the union's physical working group. The aim is to have a set of documents ready to present to the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport by the end of the week.
It's thought the proposals span all areas from pre-production to production, taking into account key elements such as choosing locations, equipment handling, catering, makeup and hair, and costumes.
The report says among the possible ideas is requiring every production to include a Covid-19 Health and Safety Department, which would include a professional cleaning team, a Covid-19 production manager, medical staff and security staff.
Productions will also be encouraged to reduce the number of cast and crew at work, with masks being worn on set at all times.
Bectu's proposals are being fed into the Inward Investment Group which is looking at international examples of film and TV returning to work alongside domestic proposals from across the industry.
Head of Bectu Philippa Childs said: These are important discussions and Bectu will be listening to all areas of our membership to ensure that the economic necessity of returning to work is balanced with people's health and safety.
